The Psychologist having university degree in Psychology and at least two years of experience in the role of a mental health worker will support HI’s MHPSS program in the field. The Psychologist will report to the Senior Project Officer.
Missions / responsibilities
Mission 1 : Mental Health Support
The Psychologist will :

Work within the primary healthcare system in close collaboration with multidisciplinary teams within the areas of intervention.

Produce a map of prevalent symptoms and rapid assessment checklists for use within the outpatient department; update mapping tools as needed.

Assess mental health needs and determine mental health status of the clients, and provide psychosocial support to persons with disabilities, people living with psychosocial disabilities through person-centered approach with special focus on building basic life skills.

Conduct family counselling sessions whenever necessary and if required for the successful recovery client, refer the client to other components within the project, and/or other mental health professional or facility.

Monitor the mental health needs of the community and adopt latest approaches within the MHPSS domain, aligned with HI’s MHPSS approaches.

Psycho-educate the community about prevalent and/or common mental health issues through in-clinic awareness sessions.

Plan and facilitate MHPSS group sessions for the students of Non-Formal Education Centers, addressing common psychological and emotional challenges.

Ensure that sessions are age-appropriate, culturally sensitive, and align with the educational and psychosocial needs of the students.

Provide individual counseling to students and community members who are experiencing psychological distress.

Assess and identify extreme cases like individuals with severe anxiety symptoms, or trauma-related challenges, and will connect them to appropriate specialized services for further support.

Maintain confidential records of counseling sessions and ensure follow-up care for referred individuals.

Provide all services through person-centered approach, in line with HI’s principles of confidentiality, do no harm, and PSEAH.
Mission 2 : Data & Reporting

Compile data at the end of every week for all MHPSS activities and share with Line Manager, Technical Supervisor and MEAL team.

Update the beneficiaries’ database regularly in both digital and hard copy forms.

Regular reporting of field activities and other activities (MHPSS trainings, seminars, learning sessions etc.).

Share lessons learnt in the field, prepare case studies and success stories pertaining to mental health and psychosocial support at the end of project and/or as required.
Mission 3 : Field Management

Is responsible for support in arranging training venues within the community

Is responsible for liaising with other implementing partners in the field to avoid duplication

Has knowledge of partners’ activities, and to monitor their activities for having updated information, to identify and cover the gaps
