Job Summary:
This position is responsible to conduct need assessment, develop BoQs for missing facilities, solarization of schools and WASH work and also monitor the construction/rehabilitation work in 50 supported schools in Peshawar, Nowshera, Mardan, Swabi, Dir, Haripur, Quetta and Pishin.
Reports to: Manager: PC/PM and dotted line operation section
Background:
The project is focusing on improving educational outcomes for vulnerable children. We collaborate with students, parents, teachers, community leaders, and government departments to enroll Afghan refugee and Pakistani children in the 50 schools target schools. Safe, secure school environments are critically important to retaining children in schools. Organization plan to provide improvement and need based maintenance in 50 schools in Peshawar, Nowshera, Mardan, Swabi, Dir, Haripur, Quetta and Pashin to enhance learning environment, safety and provide specific spaces that support girls’ enrolment. Summary of target school is as below:
Key Areas Responsibilities:
Based on list of identified schools, contacts details of responsible teachers/PTC members and list of prioritize area (s) of improvement in each school. Field Engineer - Repair & Rehabilitation will be responsible to deliver the following:
- Conduct visits and carry out assessment of 50 targeted schools and prepare cost estimates (BoQs) of class rooms/missing facilitates after coordinating with Project Coordinator.
- Do assessment for Solarization needs, prepare estimates based on market prices and monitor the work
- Provide technical support and monitor and supervise repair and maintenance work on sites.
- Share feedback with vendors and contractors and take corrective measures
- Ensure the quality of work according to vendor agreement and organizational standards
- Obtain completion certificates from School and PTCs along with Pre/Post pictures.
- Provide technical inputs and feedback on construction related activities and planning
- Coordinate with relevant departments, coordination with school committees and administration
- To facilitate field visits by company, donor and administration and provide activity details
- To report on activities progress, as per set protocols and defined deadlines
- Comply with the Child Protection Policy to ensure maximum protection for children
Qualifications and Experience Requirements
Essential
- BSc Civil Engineering or DAE Civil Technology
- Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience
- Experienced in school repair and maintenance
- Experience in rehabilitation of WASH facilities
