A national non-profit organization is seeking applications from eligible candidates for the position of Management Information System (MIS) Officer in Peshawar, on a contract basis for a donor-funded program.
Scope of the job:
The MIS officer is responsible for developing and maintaining the program's Management Information System, ensuring accurate and reliable data collection and analysis. In this role, the officer assists Line Managers by gathering program data and preparing comprehensive quarterly and annual progress reports. Additionally, the MIS officer supports the monitoring of project activities, ensuring full compliance with both organizational standards and donor SOPs, thereby facilitating informed decision-making and effective program oversight.
Job Description:
- Develop, implement, and maintain data management systems aligned with program needs, and existing guidelines.
- Oversee the effective functioning of the management information system to ensure the availability of quality, reliable data for decision-making.
- Design and develop tools, strategies, and formats for effective data collection, entry, and statistical analysis.
- Prepare, update, review and maintain databases while ensuring data quality, accuracy, integrity, and timely backups.
- Verify and organize source documents and electronic data, resolve discrepancies, and provide feedback
- Ensure data integrity, security, confidentiality and compliance with relevant policies and regulations while maintaining a secure filing system.
- Generate, analyze, and distribute regular reports and key performance indicators for management review, and respond to information requests as needed.
- Coordinate with various departments to identify data improvement and capacity-building requirements and drive process improvements.
- Assist the line manager by monitoring project activities, providing feedback, and reporting progress on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
- Facilitate audits and reviews
- Conduct field visits for monitoring and evaluation.
- Actively participate in meetings at district and provincial level
- Provide training and technical support to staff on MIS tools and practices, and support system upgrades and troubleshooting.
- Maintain a high level of quality and productivity
- Perform any additional tasks as assigned by the line manager.
Education and Qualifications
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Sciences, Statistics, Information Systems, and other relevant discipline from an HEC recognized university with two or more years of relevant experience
Experience and Requirements
- Strong technical proficiency in design and implementation of databases and MIS software (e.g., DHIS, Excel, specialized reporting tools) in development projects
- Experience in designing tools and strategies for data collection, analysis and production of reports
- Excellent analytical skills for data interpretation and decision-making
- Proficiency in data management and quality control to ensure accurate and reliable information
- Effective communication skills with fluency in written and spoken English.
- Problem-solving abilities to address system issues and streamline processes
- Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining data integrity
Preference will be given to candidate who have recently worked in the same setup and to local candidates. The position requires extensive travel to the project areas.
