  1. Purpose of the Position

The Driver is responsible for the safe and secure transportation of personnel, goods, and documents, while ensuring the efficient use and proper maintenance of assigned vehicles. This role demands strict adherence to organizational procedures, traffic laws, and security regulations. The Driver is also responsible for maintaining vehicle documentation, safety equipment, and cleanliness, and for supporting basic administrative tasks as needed.

Driver will be employed at the Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS)/German Red Cross (GRC) Sub Office located in Multan. The duty hours will be eight (08) hours per day, as per the assigned duty schedule. Flexibility in working hours may be required based on operational needs.

You will report directly to the Finance & Admin Officer, GRC Multan, your second technical line manager will be Senior Officer Security & Support Services and will act in accordance with their instructions.

  1. General Responsibilities


  • Uphold and contribute to the mission, goals, and principles of the German Red Cross (GRC) and Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS).

  • Work in accordance with the Fundamental Principles of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement.

  • Respect and comply with GRC/PRCS staff rules, security procedures, and operational policies.

  • Support a collaborative and professional work environment through service-oriented behavior and teamwork.

  • Be flexible and willing to carry out tasks beyond the scope of this job description, including supporting other departments when required.

 

  1. Specific Duties and Responsibilities


Driving & Transportation


  • Ensure safe and timely transportation of passengers, materials, and equipment, strictly following GRC driving and security protocols.

  • Ensure all passengers wear seat belts and follow safety procedures during travel.

  • Be co-responsible for the safety and security of passengers; immediately report any security concerns or incidents to the PRCS Radio Room, Security Focal Point, or Line Manager.

  • Adhere to all national traffic laws and regulations.


Vehicle Maintenance & Management


  • Conduct daily vehicle checks using the Vehicle Standard Inspection Form, ensuring roadworthiness before every trip.

  • Report required servicing or maintenance to the Line Manager at least three (3) days in advance.

  • Ensure that vehicles are regularly cleaned and maintained, both inside and outside.

  • Monitor fuel levels and refuel vehicles as needed; accurately record fuel consumption and mileage.

  • Maintain and update the vehicle logbook after each trip, noting mileage, fuel, and destination.

  • Keep complete and organized vehicle files, including service records and copies of repair and maintenance invoices.

  • Submit service requests to the fleet unit on time.



Safety & Documentation


  • Ensure that all mandatory documents are kept in the vehicle, including:

    • Mission Order (MO), No Objection Certificate (NOC), vehicle registration copy, and insurance documents.

    • Route plan, destination details, and hotel/reservation confirmations, when applicable.

  • Ensure the vehicle is equipped with all necessary safety and emergency items (e.g., first aid kit, fire extinguisher, toolkit) and understand their proper usage.


Communication & Coordination


  • Coordinate with relevant personnel for airport pickups and drop-offs; send SMS notifications to staff regarding arrivals, when needed.

  • Remain informed of assigned routes, detours, and road conditions.

  • Maintain open communication with the Line Manager, fleet, and security teams regarding vehicle movements and any concerns.

 

  1. Qualifications, Skills, and Experience


  • Education: Secondary School Certificate (Matric or equivalent).

  • License: Valid LTV (Light Transport Vehicle) driving license.

  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of professional driving experience; previous work with NGOs, INGOs, or within the Red Cross/Red Crescent Movement is an asset.

  • Knowledge: Good understanding of local areas, routes, traffic laws, and basic vehicle mechanics.


  • Skills:

    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

    • Good record-keeping and documentation habits.

    • Service-oriented and proactive attitude.

    • Team player with the ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing needs.

    • Basic administrative and organizational skills. 

  1. Employment Terms


  • The position is purely contractual, and all employment matters will be handled by GRC Management.

  • The Driver may be required to travel outside the city or province based on operational needs.

  • Employment is subject to compliance with GRC/PRCS rules and regulations.

  • Any breach of conduct, negligence, insubordination, or actions that may harm the reputation or interest of GRC/PRCS may lead to immediate termination without prior notice.

  • The GRC reserves the right to terminate the contract at any time, with or without cause.

  • In case of voluntary resignation, one month’s prior notice is required or one month’s salary in lieu thereof.

  • Confidentiality of organizational matters must be maintained during and after employment, unless disclosure is legally required.
