CHILD SAFEGUARDING:

Level 3:  the post holder will have contact with children and/or young people either frequently (e.g. once a week or more) or intensively (e.g. four days in one month or more or overnight) because they work country programs; or are visiting country programs; or because they are responsible for implementing the police checking/vetting process staff.

ROLE PURPOSE:

As part of this project, the Communications and Media Officer will lead on developing high quality content, such as case studies, photos and videos, to demonstrate how the COPK program has impacted the lives of children and their families and for sharing with the project donor and on Save the Children’s social media channels. The Communications and Media Officer will develop and design key communication and media related materials, including social, print and digital media, design of IEC and training materials.  The Communications and Media Officer will assist the program teams with meeting donor reporting requirements, developing press releases, case studies, internal and external updates on the projects, and reviewing branding materials from partner staff, CO office staff, and through collecting the content by travelling to project and program area/s. The Communications and Media Officer will also be required to support the ACCM team with other advocacy, campaigns, communications, media (including Social Media) related work assignments related to COPK program.

Role Dimensions: The role holder is expected to work closely with internal and external stakeholders, travel to program areas, ensuring effective communication, media and collaborative partnerships, and always ensuring the best interests of the children we work with. 

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY :

  • Develop high quality content and communications materials such as case studies, photos, report design, social media posts, videos, IEC, events and training materials for COPK program.
  • Conduct regular field missions to project/program areas of Balochistan, Sindh, KP and collect key content I.e. photographs, case studies, success stories, testimonials, media updates etc.
  • Support with donor reporting and internal updates, including contributions to monthly, quarterly, annual reporting on the project to CO management and ARO (if needed).
  • Drafting statements, talking points, blog posts, op-eds, speeches and press releases and maintain close coordination with digital and print media.
  • Creating content for digital media platforms and updating the website regularly.
  • Strategically designing digital and social media campaigns in line with all projects’ guidelines, including humanitarian response.
  • Responsible for conceiving ideas and designing products, such as communications and IEC materials,  and takes initiatives to prepare visibility materials for enhancing the profile of all projects.
  • Regularly conduct field missions for photography and video testimonials/case studies collection  for the digital and social media, and related platforms.
  • Developing daily, weekly, monthly and donor & social media updates and develop humanitarian program briefs, reports, and communication packs.
  • Organize workshops, conferences, meetings, and media events as assigned by the supervisor.
  • Provide support to the advocacy and campaigns officer on the development of campaign-related materials as well as providing robust support for campaigns roll-outs.
  • Ensure staff and partner compliance with SC’s communications and media policies and procedures and branding guidance.
  • Ensure that donor branding and visibility guidelines are shared and complied with by the project team as well as by the implementing partner.
  • Support the Project staff (Coordinators/Managers) with the review of communication materials and media content shared program team.
  • Coordinating with vendors, such as printers, to ensure quality products and maintain databases of the same.
  • Any other task assigned by supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS 

Bachelors Degree in Communications, media, Journalism, Social Sciences or a relevant area of study.

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

  • 2-3 years experience working as a communications and media professional for a non-profit, for-profit, or government agency.
  • Experience in collecting high impact content and case studies that inspire and engage a wide range of audiences.
  • Experience in developing IEC and other key communication materials.
  • Experience in developing content for mainstream media including social media and using social media channels.
  • Experience in donor and internal reporting.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English and Urdu.
  • Ability and high willingness to travel to field locations to collect communications content. 
  • Excellent knowledge of Adobe photoshop/Illustrator/Indesign and excellent video editing skills.
  • Proficient in MS Excel , MS Word, Outlook, creative applications.
