Aga Khan Health Service, Pakistan is currently seeking a dynamic and experienced to join its team based in Karachi. This role is pivotal for implementing our organization's strategic safety and security vision.
Position Summary
The Regional Security Coordinator (RSC) will be responsible for ensuring safety, security, and risk management for the Aga Khan Health Services in Pakistan (AKHSP) in the southern region (Karachi and Sindh). Reporting to the security manager, the RSC will implement AKHS risk management strategies, policies, procedures, and standards within the assigned area of responsibility (AOR) under strategic direction.
Key Responsibilities
Security Management and Planning
- Implement the AKHS safety and security management system, in line with the AKDN Security Level System (SLS), and provide regional level direction on safety and security policies, procedures, and standards.
- Implement and ensure compliance with the mandated (SLS) assessments, procedures, plans, and mechanisms appropriate to regional threat levels.
- Assess, advise, and monitor the planning, implementation and quality control of AKHSP security manpower, technical assets, and physical protection measures across regional facilities.
- Disseminate regional level security advisories, as appropriate.
- Develop and maintain a strong contextual understanding of AKHSP operations in the AOR.
- Provide regional level inputs to the CSM for the annual audit and Initiate identified remedial audit actions.
- Manage regional communications, call trees, alerts, and notifications.
Incident Management
- Develop a regional level critical incident management team (CIMT) in coordination with the CSM and regional project leads.
- Prepare contingency plans to manage critical incidents, including coordination with law enforcement and emergency response agencies.
- Report all safety and security incidents in a timely manner and participate in any after-action reviews.
- Collect, collate, analyze, and report on security and safety information relevant to regional level operations.
Coordination and Relationships
- Meet regularly with the regional project lead(s) and project staff to understand, advise and assist with project security requirements.
- Establish relationships with the relevant law enforcement agencies, emergency services, NGOs, International organizations (UN etc.), community leaders, and emergency services.
- Actively participate in monthly security coordination cell (SCC) meetings.
- Maintain regular contact and coordination with the security focal points of AKDN sister agencies in the region.
Training and Briefings
- Deliver or coordinate safety and security training and drills for AKHSP personnel.
- Conduct or coordinate safety and security training for security guards, drivers, and support staff on a regular basis.
- Provide an in-country security arrival briefing for new staff and visitors.
- Provide new hire induction training in safety and security.
- Provide monthly regional security reports to the SM.
Private Security
- Advise the SM on the selection of sub- contracted security service companies (guards/technical security/response).
- Manage the activities and performance of contracted private security providers in accordance with AKHSP policies, established KPIs, and the service agreement.
- Conduct quarterly, or as required, review meetings with the private security company.
Support
- Investigate safety and security breaches and non-compliance.
- Advise the Security Manager on the annual budget requirements for regional operations.
Other
- Produce reports, attend meetings, and undertake any other duties, in line with the position.
- Undertake and qualify for the following AKDN provided qualifications; 1) Qualified Security professional (QSP). 2) Certified Occupational Safety and Health Practitioner (COSHP). 3) Critical Incident Management Programme.
Qualification and Experience
Essential
- Bachelor’s degree or security related equivalent (level 6), or High School Diploma with extensive (5+ years) and verifiable security risk management experience within a credible organization (UN, NGO, IO).
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in safety and security management at a similar level.
- High level of contextual understanding of the political, social, economic, and security situation in Pakistan.
- Fluency in English and Urdu. Written and spoken.
- Ability to undertake regular regional travel.
- Proven training capability.
Desirable
- Previous risk management experience with international or commercial organizations, the UN, or in the NGO sector.
- Accredited security industry certifications.

- Able to communicate with a broad range of stakeholders with excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills.
- Strong IT and computer skills.
