A National Level NGO engaged in advocacy, campaigning, community mobilization, research, networking, challenging anti poor policies, plans and actions at local, national and international level with different coalitions. Since its inception, covered at least 22 districts of Balochistan and has worked to ensure a peaceful and secure environment within communities. The main Goal is to eliminate poverty and violence from society by means of encouraging human rights and civic education culture.

Job Overview/Summary:

The Researcher will play a pivotal role in supporting programs, guiding policy initiatives, and advancing advocacy efforts through systematic research. This position involves designing and executing research projects, applying mathematical models and optimization techniques, and analyzing both qualitative and quantitative data. The Researcher will provide critical insights to support management in decision-making, policy development, and strategic planning. The role also includes extensive interaction with local communities, government bodies, partner organizations, and donors to ensure that research findings are effectively communicated and leveraged for program improvement.

Major Responsibilities:

Research Design and Methodology Development:

    • Develop tailored research methodologies and tools aligned with program objectives, ensuring their feasibility and ethical integrity.
    • Design surveys, interviews, focus groups, and field experiments to gather relevant data for project assessments and evaluations.
    • Develop mathematical models, optimization techniques, and data collection frameworks for complex research tasks.

Fieldwork, Data Collection, and Stakeholder Engagement:

    • Lead or support fieldwork activities, including conducting surveys, interviews, focus group discussions, and ethnographic research in various settings.
    • Build strong relationships with local communities, stakeholders, and partners to ensure effective data collection and collaboration.
    • Manage research teams during field data collection, ensuring adherence to ethical guidelines and research protocols.

Data Analysis and Interpretation:

    • Analyze both qualitative and quantitative data using statistical tools (e.g., SPSS, NVivo, Stata) to generate insights.
    • Develop algorithms and statistical models to interpret complex data sets and inform strategic decisions.
    • Conduct data cleaning, validation, and ensure the reliability and integrity of the research data.

Research Reporting and Documentation:

    • Prepare clear and comprehensive research reports, case studies, policy briefs, and technical documents for internal stakeholders, donors, and policymakers.
    • Summarize and communicate key research findings in both written and oral formats for diverse audiences, including non-technical stakeholders.
    • Contribute to the writing of research publications, white papers, and policy documents.

Program Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E):

    • Design and contribute to the development of Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) frameworks to track the progress of research-based programs and initiatives.
    • Collect data for impact assessments and outcome evaluations, using both qualitative and quantitative methods.
    • Provide evidence-based recommendations to improve ongoing programs and inform future initiatives.

Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement:

    • Collaborate with local communities, government bodies, partner organizations, and international stakeholders to gather relevant data and share research findings.
    • Represent the organization in meetings, conferences, and research presentations, both locally and internationally.
    • Participate in cross-functional teams to ensure research findings are incorporated into policy and advocacy efforts.

Ethical Data Collection and Compliance:

    • Ensure all research activities adhere to ethical guidelines, especially when dealing with sensitive data or vulnerable populations.
    • Maintain transparency and accountability in all aspects of research, including data collection, analysis, and reporting.

Capacity Building and Knowledge Transfer:

    • Provide training and guidance to field staff and local partners on research methodologies, data collection tools, and ethical standards.
    • Facilitate knowledge sharing and capacity building to enhance the research capabilities of local partners and communities.

Donor Reporting and Proposal Writing:

    • Contribute to grant writing, donor reporting, and other fundraising efforts by providing technical input and ensuring research findings are aligned with donor priorities.
    • Maintain clear and transparent documentation of research activities for donor and grant compliance.

Job Specification:

Education & Experience:

  • Education: A Master's degree in Social Sciences, Development Studies, Public Policy, Economics, or a related field is required.
  • Experience: At least 3 years of relevant work experience, preferably in an NGO, development organization, or academic research setting.
  • Experience in conducting both qualitative and quantitative research, especially in program evaluation and policy analysis.
  • Experience working with diverse communities, including vulnerable or marginalized groups, is an asset.

Demonstrated Skills and Competencies:

  • Technical Skills:
  • Proficiency in research tools such as SPSS, NVivo, Stata, R, or Python for data analysis and modeling.
  • Strong understanding of statistical analysis, data visualization, and qualitative data analysis techniques.
  • Familiarity with research project management tools and platforms.

  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to derive actionable insights from complex data sets.

    • Experience managing research teams, coordinating with multiple stakeholders, and maintaining effective communication throughout the research process.

    • Strong understanding of ethical research practices and sensitivity to local cultural contexts.
    • Knowledge of ethical standards for working with vulnerable populations, particularly in data collection and analysis.
  • Collaboration and Interpersonal Skills:
    • Proven ability to work effectively in multi-disciplinary teams, collaborating with internal teams, partners, and stakeholders.
    • Demonstrated experience in stakeholder engagement, particularly with government bodies, community organizations, and international partners.
  • Languages: Knowledge of local languages and contexts is considered an asset, particularly in regions where field research will be conducted.
