Organization’s Background:
A National Level NGO engaged in advocacy, campaigning, community mobilization, research, networking, challenging anti poor policies, plans and actions at local, national and international level with different coalitions. Since its inception, covered at least 22 districts of Balochistan and has worked to ensure a peaceful and secure environment within communities. The main Goal is to eliminate poverty and violence from society by means of encouraging human rights and civic education culture.
Job Overview/Summary:
The Social Mobilizer position facilitates the field implementation of project activities in close coordination with the partner communities, local line departments, other NGOs. The position holder is responsible to ensure community mobilization, activation/reactivation of VO/COs, mobilization of local volunteers to achieve the desired project objectives.
Major Responsibilities:
- Responsible to select the communities according to project criteria & formation/activation of village organizations as per need
- To mobilize and strengthen communities/beneficiaries in institutional framework for addressing the social issues.
- Provide sufficient support to program in identification, registration, bank account opening facilitaion and data compilation & reporting.
- Monitor the field activities to ensure the target group applied the decisions/agreed activities practically
- Responsible to conduct meetings with community influential, social leaders and sensitize and aware mass population on local development issues being catered by the project
- Conduct meetings with selected committees and record minutes
- Facilitate base line and end line in targeted communities and engage local volunteers
- To organize and facilitate orientation and sanitization sessions on relevant convention(s) and general concepts of social development
- Identify potential community members and formulate & train village organization, village committees on communal saving mechanisms
- Implement Project activities to meet identified needs and strengthen communities’ capacities ensuring active participation from beneficiaries.
- Participate with the project team for implementation of the project activities and planning
- Identifying, training, strengthening and engaging the Community Resource Person (CRP)/Community Sparks for strengthening and sustaining the process in community
- Capture photographs, fill & report on specified formats for each individual project & support in drafting reports
- Support field team in implementation of all program activities within tight deadlines
- Ensure respect to the context of local communities
- Ensure Selection of communities/sites as per criteria. Due attention must be paid to ensuring that communities are adequately consulted and informed about programme objectives, activities, beneficiary selection criteria, and methodologies.
- Ensure sessions/awareness campaigns as per project implementation plan
- Ensure record keeping and documentations of data and project activities
- Fill, Check & control relevant documents on regular basis
Job Specification:
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in social sciences, economics, statistics or in any other related subject
- At least 2 years of relevant work experience preferably in NGO setup.
Demonstrated Skills and Competencies:
- Knowledge & understanding of participatory approaches (PRA, PRRA, Participatory monitoring) & result based management.
- Understanding of local community and related cultural sensitivities
- Ability to influence and engage with a wide range of stakeholder group
- Knowledge & understanding of social sector approaches, interventions & community-based practices.
- Knowledge and understanding of Emergency related intervention, practices, policies, laws, approaches.
- Knowledge & understanding of Project execution at field level
Language Skills:
- Fluent, professional level speaking, reading, and writing in English and Urdu. At this level, applicant should have:
- The ability to speak using sufficient, structured and accurate vocabulary in formal conversation;
- The ability to use the language to satisfy professional needs;
- The ability to read and write at a normal speed and with almost complete comprehension of a variety of materials, unfamiliar subjects, styles and forms pertinent to the job needs.
