About the role:

The Lady Health Visitor (LHV) will assist the Women Medical Officer in delivering high-quality maternal and child healthcare services at the MCH Center. The LHV will focus on antenatal and postnatal care, immunizations, family planning, and community health education. The role includes providing hands-on support to patients, ensuring accurate documentation, and maintaining a hygienic and safe environment at the center.

Key Objective 

Task descriptions

Objective # 1:

 

To assist the Women Medical Officer (WMO) during Antenatal Care (ANC), Postnatal Care (PNC), and labor room procedures, ensuring proper care and support for patients.

  • Assist in antenatal and postnatal consultations under the guidance of the Women Medical Officer.
  • Support the Women Medical Officer in managing gynecological, obstetric, and Delivery cases.
  • Administer routine immunizations for children and pregnant women according to government protocols.
  • Provide counseling on family planning methods, breastfeeding, and newborn care.

Objective # 2:

 

Administrative Duties

 

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including immunization logs, antenatal care registers, and delivery reports.
  • Monitor and ensure the availability of medical supplies and equipment.
  • Prepare monthly activity and progress reports for submission to the Women Medical Officer.

Objective # 3:

 

Supportive Functions:

  • Ensure cleanliness and sanitation in the patient care areas, especially the Labor room
  • Provide emotional and psychological support to patients and families.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare team members to ensure seamless delivery of care.

Job Specification: 

Education:

  • Two-year Diploma of Lady Health Visitor with the registration of Pakistan Nursing Council.

Work Experience:

  • At least 2 to 3 years of experience in maternal health (preferred).

Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong knowledge of antenatal, postnatal, and family planning care.
  • Basic skills in administering immunizations and handling minor medical emergencies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in underserved or remote areas.

The responsibilities listed above cover most of the tasks that would be performed by the job holder in this position; however, staff may be assigned any other official tasks as and when required.
