About the Role

Place of work:  

Lahore, Pakistan with frequent travel to the field.

Responsibilities

  • Preparing gender responsive RMNCH strategy aligning with project intermediate and immediate outcomes.
  • Work with the project team and partners to streamline gender mainstreaming in all project deliverables.
  • Work with the project team and partners to ensure gender responsive RMNCH and WASH services provision through project interventions.
  • Ensure gender responsive infrastructure and designs are intact in project interventions.
  • Develop gender gap analysis and preparing mitigation plan.
  • Strengthen gender responsive community participation in project planning, implementation and evaluation.
  • Orient project team and external stakeholders on gender and social inclusion
  • Lead gender related feedback and accountability mechanism by strengthening users’ participation.
  • Perform periodic gender responsive services review and evaluation and develop reports for internal and donors’ knowledge.
  • Extract gender desegregated data and evidence for periodic reports.
  • Establish multisectoral gender responsive support group at district and province.
  • Work with the project team and partners to ensure GESI concepts are integrated in project’s fundamental design and are in line with the project outcomes.
  • Work with partner staff to adapt GESI tools and approaches in their mobilisation processes.
  • Contribute to regular donor and management report writing.

Key working relationships

Internal: Provincial office team, technical specialists, Programme Quality, Communication, Finance. 

External: Relevant government departments including Primary & Secondary Healthcare Department Punjab, HUD&PHED, EPCCD, Sector Partners (UN, INGOs, local NGOs, think tanks, private sector etc), partners, MHM Champions, consultants, sector stakeholders.

Person Specification

 

Essential

Desirable

·    Post-graduate degree in gender studies, social sciences, or any other relevant discipline from an HEC recognised institution.

 

·  At least 5 years of (proven) experience at a middle or senior level in gender & development.

·    Deep understanding of gender dynamics in the Pakistani context, including understanding and experience in working on social norms and attitudinal changes required to make progress on gender and equity.

· Proven experience in using gender equity/transformation frameworks and tools in programmes and/or policy influencing.

·       Demonstrable technical expertise in inclusive programming.

·   Experience in networking and alliance building with local rights-groups focused on gender equality and social inclusion.

· Experience in facilitation of trainings and workshops.

· Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills in both English and Urdu languages.

·       Good understanding of Child Protection and Safeguarding principles and no record of child abuse or Safeguarding issues.

·       Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office.

 

a.     Desirable knowledge and experience

       ·     Understanding of the concepts of gender responsive RMNCH and inclusive WASH services.

       ·     Knowledge of and interest in behaviour change communication, ideally hygiene-related behaviour.

       ·     Experience in qualitative and quantitative research, monitoring and evaluation etc.
