(This position is a temporary assignment for a duration of four months, intended to provide cover during the maternity leave of a CARE staff member.)

As part of the communication team, and in coordination with various short-term and long-term projects, the Communications Officer will be in charge of creating and publishing content, contributing to organization wide communication activities, brainstorming ideas and developing communication material (digital photo/video/graphics content, flyers, brochures, posters, IEC material etc) and other products. The position will also contribute towards press releases, monitor media coverage, and manage external and internal events. S/he will be responsible for maintaining all program files, information/ database, in both hard and soft form as per CARE and donors’ policies. The communications officer will work with all programs and departments at CARE for communications-related activities and tasks. Other responsibilities may include drafting, and editing publication materials and communications copy and helping to execute communications projects and strategies.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS:   

1- Advanced Level Visual Communication Design & Digital Product Development  (30%)

  • Produce advanced level graphic design work on industrial softwares for CARE’s projects, including:
  • Social media assets such as posts, GIFs, digital case studies, artificial intelligence integrated illustrations, and digital campaign assets.
  • Motion graphic posts.
  • Assist project teams by designing presentations using data visualization.
  • Collaborate with graphic designers, videographers, photographers, and other vendors to develop and produce materials for projects.
  • Ensure adherence to branding guidelines and represent communication policies consistently across all communication design assets in accordance with CARE branding guidelines.
  • Monitor CARE social media channel media metrics and analyze monthly.

2- Advanced Level Publishing Design and Asset development  (30%)

Provide assistance to all teams by designing and editing publication-based materials tailored to various audiences and contexts, such as:

  • Research learning products
  • Annual Reports
  • Newsletters
  • Project Reports
  • Case studies
  • Briefs
  • Booklets
  • Manuals
  • Tool kits
  • IEC posters
  • Brochures

Printable Assets Design

  • Create designs for banners, standees, and other paraphernalia.

3- Photo and Videographic Coverage of CARE Projects activities (25%):

  • Document photo and video based success stories from projects based on partner information.
  • Support project teams in capturing learning from program activities.
  • Editing and producing video products such as case study reels, testimonials and video clips. 

4- Record Keeping, Compliance Management and Media Relations (10% of time)

  • Assist the project teams in reviewing and archiving in a compliant manner all project documents.
  • Ensure that all the documents received from field are properly reviewed and verified. Identify gaps in documentation and ensure accuracy.
  • Support the project teams in ensuring that systems are in place to periodically capture and document learning related to success and failures occurring during the program period.
  • Work with the Communications Team to develop and implement US and global media strategies that advance CARE’s visibility and research utilization.
  • Coordinate responses to incoming media inquiries, review of press releases, and relevant news coverage monitoring.
  • Assist project teams in event management.
  • Offer administrative support to the communications function in tracking products and materials according to deadlines.
  • Coordinate or lead communication related trainings or events (internal and external)

5- Other responsibilities as assigned (5% of time)

  • Any other tasks or responsibilities based on organizational and programming needs as assigned by the Line Manager.

A) Qualifications (Know How)

Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Communication, Journalism, Media, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related field is required for advanced positions. 
Desired
  • Masters degree in any related field will be preferred.

B) Experience/ Technical Skills 

Required

  • Minimum 2 - 3 years of experience in a communications role
  • Experience in of creating and publishing content, overseeing office communication activities, brainstorming ideas and developing publications and digital creative assets.

Desired

  • Proficiency in regional languages preferred.
  • Experience of working with International NGOs.
