Activity Background:
Associates in Development Pvt. Ltd. (AiD) is a Pakistan-based development and management consulting company which provides high-quality consulting services in the core areas of 1) Social Sectors, 2) Engineering and Infrastructure, and 3) Environment and Climate Change.
USAID's Economic Recovery and Development Activity (USAID-ERDA) is a five-year (2022-2027) activity designed to expand environmentally sustainable, socially equitable and climate resilient economic opportunities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and its Merged Districts (MDs) by strengthening and modernizing the agriculture sector and promoting on and off farm Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).
Activity Objectives:
USAID-ERDA’s objective is to expand economic opportunities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and its MD’s by strengthening and modernizing the agriculture sector and promoting micro and small enterprises.
- Sub-Objective 1: Agriculture sector capacity enhanced and modernized through strengthening of agriculture production resources.
- Sub-Objective 2: Micro, small, and medium businesses promoted by strengthening MSME’s in both farm and non-farm sectors.
- Sub-Objective 3: Improved business enabling environment through policy reforms and technical assistance to the GoKP.
Qualification & Skills Requirement:
- A university degree in Environmental Studies, Environmental Economics, Natural Resource Management, or a relevant discipline is highly desirable.
- A minimum of five years of experience of providing technical and implementation assistance for environmental safeguard management of development assistance programming is required.
- Understanding of GOP and GoKP’s policy and regulatory requirements for environment impact assessments and climate change adaptation is desirable.
- At least two (02) years of experience with USAID’s environmental procedures, compliance, and reporting as per 22 CFR 216 is highly desirable.
- Experience in conducting field assessments for environmental assessments and monitoring environmental mitigations at sites is desirable.
- Must have working experience and familiarity with MS Office Suits.
- Fluency in written and spoken English. Spoken Urdu and Pashto is highly desirable.
Tasks & Responsibilities:
The incumbent will assist supervisor in implementing and completing the following tasks:
- Environmental Assessment of grants and infrastructure activities, field surveys and providing technical support in mitigating potential impacts as per USAID’s Environmental Compliance Regulations and Procedures and 22 CFR 216.
- Physical verification and collection of documents and evidence on a quarterly basis for the development and submission of environmental monitoring reports.
- Development of Environmental Documentation Forms.
- Training Need Assessment of all activities on environmental issues, material development regarding training such as training agenda, PowerPoint presentations, and other documents.
- Development of documents for ERDA’s intervention on ways to ensure environmental compliance as required under various mitigation measures in the EMMP.
- Orientation Sessions on Environmental Compliance.
- Input on Environmental Compliance in USAID-ERDA Plans.
- Training of Staff and stakeholders on Environmental Regulations of USAID 22CFR216 and Government of Pakistan, Waste Management and Health and Safety Issues.
- Any other task deemed necessary to fulfill ERDA’s environmental obligations.
