Join Better Cotton as a Data Insights Officer and play a key role in enhancing our data analysis and reporting capabilities. You’ll develop dynamic data visualizations that support the world's largest cotton sustainability program, empowering stakeholders to make informed decisions that positively impact cotton farming communities worldwide.

As part of the IT & Data team, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, build, and maintain PowerBI reports and dashboards that capture critical insights from our global operations. Your expertise in data visualization and reporting will help drive the success of Better Cotton’s sustainability initiatives.

The position will be line managed by the Manager Certification and MEL at Pakistan.

Your role and responsibilities

In this role, you will be responsible for:

1.Design and Development of PowerBI Dashboards:

  • Create and maintain interactive, real-time PowerBI dashboards that provide key insights into our operations and field data.
  • Design visually compelling and user-friendly reports that meet the needs of various stakeholders across the organisation.

2. Data Integration and Transformation:

  • Collaborate with IT and Data teams to extract, transform, and load (ETL) data from multiple sources into PowerBI.
  • Ensure data is accurately connected and refreshed, enabling reliable reporting for decision-making.

3. Advanced Data Analytics:

  • Develop advanced analytics and calculations using DAX (Data Analysis Expressions) to derive meaningful insights from data.
  • Implement best practices in data visualization to convey complex data in an accessible way to both technical and non-technical users.

4. Cross-functional Collaboration:

  • Work closely with the Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) team, Program teams, and other departments to understand reporting needs and deliver tailored data solutions.
  • Partner with the global IT team to ensure PowerBI integrates seamlessly with existing systems and infrastructure.

5. Capacity Building and Training:

  • Provide training and support to end users on how to navigate PowerBI reports and derive actionable insights from the data.
  • Develop documentation and training materials to help users maximize the value of PowerBI for their respective roles.

6.Optimisation and Troubleshooting:

  • Continuously optimize PowerBI dashboards for performance, ensuring they run smoothly and deliver insights quickly.
  • Identify and resolve any data discrepancies or issues related to PowerBI reports.

7. Data Quality and Governance:

  • Work with data teams to ensure accuracy, consistency, and security of data used in PowerBI reports.
  • Help establish and maintain data governance protocols to ensure data integrity across reporting platforms.

Beyond these specific responsibilities, the position is expected to collaborate on additional activities agreed with the line manager - Pakistan and matrix manager (s) from Better Cotton global team.

We are looking for someone who has:

Essential

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in developing PowerBI dashboards and reports.
  • Strong expertise in DAX (Data Analysis Expressions) and Power Query for advanced data manipulation.
  • Excellent understanding of data visualisation best practices and dashboard design.
  • Ability to connect PowerBI with multiple data sources (SQL, Excel, cloud databases, etc.).
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues independently.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to train non-technical users.

Desirable:

  • Experience in the development sector or familiarity with sustainability-focused organisations.
  • Understanding of ETL processes and experience with database management.
  • Interest in sustainability and contributing to global impact initiatives.
  • Background in capacity building and training field-based staff.

Working arrangements

The position is full-time (40 hours per week) and will be based in Lahore - Pakistan. Better Cotton offers flexible working, with core hours being 10 am – 4 pm.  The position might require travel domestically as well as internationally, if needed.

 Reference Checks:

Once you progress further in the process, reference checks are conducted to validate your work history, skills, and qualifications, and for some roles, your education and criminal history.

Offer stage:

After completing interviews, assessments, and reference checks, the hiring team evaluates your performance and fit for the role. If you are selected and your references are relevant and satisfactory, you will receive a formal job offer letter outlining the terms of employment, compensation, benefits, and any other relevant details.
