Background:

Nutrition  International  (NI)  is  global  nutrition  organization  with  headquarters  in  Canada. Founded in 1992, NI is dedicated to deliver proven nutrition interventions to those who need them most. NI has been working in Pakistan since 2000, in partnership with national and provincial government, on large scale nutrition programs with a vision to eradicate hidden hunger and nourish lives. “Maternal, Newborn, Child Adolescent health & nutrition program is a core initiative of the organization to improve maternal, newborn and adolescent nutrition in Pakistan”, has been implemented in Pakistan for the last five years.

Nutrition International is a global nutrition organization headquartered in Ottawa, Canada. For nearly 30 years, we have focused on delivering low-cost, high-impact, nutrition interventions to people in need. Working alongside governments as an expert ally, we combine deep technical expertise with a flexible approach, increasing impact without increasing complexity or cost. In more than 60 countries, primarily in Asia and Africa, Nutrition International nourishes people to nourish life.

For more than two decades, Nutrition International has been working in Pakistan to improve the health  of  people  in  vulnerable  situations,  especially  women  and  children,  through  better nutrition.  Our  priorities  focus  on  improving  access  to  micronutrients,  from  micronutrient supplementation and food fortification to policy changes and advocacy efforts. In addition, Nutrition International works closely with federal and provincial governments to strengthen nutrition policy and improve multisectoral coordination through the Scaling up Nutrition (SUN) movement.

Nutrition International aims to improve the health and nutritional status of adolescent girls and women of reproductive age, pregnant women, and newborns. We also work towards upgrading the health of infants and young children to reduce mortality, anaemia, birth defects, low birth weight and stunting. This is achieved through supporting federal and provincial governments through specialized programs such as vitamin A supplementation, diarrhoea management with zinc and oral rehydration salts for young children, ensuring adequate iodization of salt, staple food fortification, iron, and folic acid (IFA) supplementation for pregnant, lactating women and adolescent girls, programs on ‘Essential Newborn Care’ and ‘Infant & Young Child Nutrition’ services.

Through this Terms of Reference, Nutrition International aims to hire a consultant to conduct targeted activities to engage media including senior editors, special correspondents, and senior health reporters and deliver high-quality coverage on public health and nutrition issues. The media pitching would focus on large scale food fortification, nutrition sensitive-social protection and Nutrition International’s Cost of Inaction Tool.
