Jhpiego seeks Qualitative Research Consultant to bolster program implementation efforts. The incumbent will facilitate notetaking, translation and transcription during interview/workshops with key stakeholders, including planners, policymakers, and implementers, support in categorizing qualitative data into themes and initial analysis of qualitative data in disseminate lessons learned and document best practices amidst the pandemic. The spearhead will help in the development of a comprehensive report outlining pandemic-related insights and future strategies.
Purpose:

Specific Objectives:
The primary objective of this position is to support qualitative research activities, including notetaking during interviews, translation, transcription, literature review, theme extraction, and initial analysis and draft of project report.
Description of Objectives:
The Qualitative Research Assistant will be responsible for the following tasks:
- Attend and take detailed notes during interviews, focus groups, and other qualitative data collection activities. Assist in conducting interviews
- Translate interviews and focus group discussions from Urdu to English (and vice versa, if required).
- Transcribe audio recordings accurately, ensuring that the transcriptions are clear, complete, and true to the original content.
- Assist in conducting literature reviews relevant to the research topic.
- Extract key themes, patterns, and gaps from the literature to inform the research design and analysis.
- Assist in coding and categorizing qualitative data into themes and sub-themes.
- Participate in the initial analysis of qualitative data, providing insights and suggestions for further exploration.
- Ensure proper storage and organization of all qualitative data, including interview notes, transcripts, and coded themes.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to data protection guidelines.
- Prepare summaries and reports based on the thematic analysis and literature review findings.
- Contribute to the preparation of research reports, presentations, and publications as needed.
- Work closely with the STO to ensure that all qualitative research activities are aligned with the overall project objectives.
- Communicate regularly with the supervisor to provide updates on progress and seek guidance when necessary.
Selection Criteria:
- A university degree in Social Sciences, Public Health, Anthropology, or a related field.
- 2 to 4 years of experience in qualitative research, particularly in notetaking, transcription, translation, and thematic analysis.
- Requires travel.
- Strong understanding of qualitative research methods and tools.
- Proficiency in Urdu and English (both written and spoken).
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Attention to detail and the ability to maintain high standards of accuracy.
- Experience in conducting literature reviews and summarizing findings.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

- 12-15 Interview notes
- 12-15 audio transcriptions
- 12-15 Urdu to English translations
- Assist in Theme Extraction from Literature Review, KIIs, and FGDs
Level of Efforts (LOE):
3 months ( October to December 2024)
Travel:
15 days travel for each position
Payment and Working Schedule:
The payment will be released on a monthly basis upon the completion of deliverables.
