Activity Background

The USAID's Economic Recovery and Development Activity (ERDA) is a five-year (2022-2027) activity designed to expand environmentally sustainable, socially equitable, and climate resilient economic opportunities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and its Merged Districts by strengthening and modernizing the agriculture sector and promoting on-farm and off-farm Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).

Activity Objectives

The ERDA’s core objective is to increase economic opportunities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and its Merged Districts by strengthening and modernizing the agriculture sector and promoting micro and small enterprises.

  • Sub-Objective 1:

Agriculture sector capacity enhanced and modernized through strengthening of agriculture production resources.

  • Sub-Objective 2:

Micro, small, and medium businesses promoted by strengthening MSMEs in both farm and non-farm sectors.

  • Sub-Objective 3:

Improved business enabling environment through policy reforms and technical assistance to the Government of KP.

Position Summary

ERDA seeks a Graphic Design and Visualization Officer who will support the Communications and Outreach Team to further strengthen our visual storytelling. Reporting directly to the Strategic Outreach and Communications Specialist, s/he will provide high-end support in creating visual designs for print and digital media which follow ERDA’s branding guidelines.

 

The role also involves designing brochures, flyers, backdrops, reports, infographics, and other promotional material for print and digital media use to communicate the intended messages of ERDA to a diverse group of stakeholders in a planned and strategic manner.

 

Additionally, the Graphic Design and Visualization Officer will help capitalize on the existing communications work and further build on that. For this purpose, s/he must be proficient in the latest graphic designing softwares and visualization tools, along with an advanced level working knowledge of 2D animation and photo documentation.

Qualification & Skills

  • A degree, diploma, or professional certification in a relevant field from an accredited institution is desirable.
  • Demonstrated experience of at least 5 years as Graphic Designer and Visualizer with a diverse and dynamic portfolio is desirable.
  • Past experience of graphic design work in the development sector context will be an advantage.
  • Expertise in producing content for print as well as digital media, including Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, Twitter (X), etc. is desirable.
  • Ability in the use of latest graphic design and animation tools including Illustrator or Photoshop or InDesign or CorelDraw, etc. is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in designing layouts, icons, buttons, menus, etc. that align with modern design trends and best practices is desirable.
  • Knowledge of developing a cohesive visual identity including logos, color palettes, typography, and other visual assets is desirable.
  • Skilled in presenting information in a clear and engaging manner through infographics, charts, and diagrams is desirable.
  • Proven ability to transform creative concepts into visually compelling designs and graphics is desirable.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple design tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to be able to work both as a team and independently on designing and visualization work.
  • Excellent communication skills to work with English and Urdu texts to translate ideas into visual content.

Tasks & Responsibilities

  • Design visually compelling and innovative materials for both digital and print platforms, including but not limited to brochures, posters, social media graphics, illustrations, etc.
  • Develop and maintain a consistent visual identity for ERDA, ensuring that the USAID’s brand guidelines are adhered to in all design elements.
  • Uphold brand consistency in all visual content produced and disseminated, contributing to the strengthening of the overall brand identity of ERDA.
  • Collaborate as part of the Communications and Outreach team to brainstorm and conceptualize creative solutions for diverse products and materials.
  • Analyze textual and static data to create dynamic and engaging graphics for various purposes, including promotional materials, outreach content, and event coverage.
  • Integrate visual effects, graphics, and animations in documents such as reports, handbooks, manuals, etc. to enhance graphic content and maintain a professional look.
  • Establish and maintain an organized static image content library, ensuring efficient retrieval and repurposing for future communications and outreach needs.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand content requirements, ensuring that visual elements align with the ERDA’s sub-objectives.
  • Liaise with external printers on need basis to ensure the printing deadlines are met and material is prepared in conformity to the highest quality standards.
