Overview

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Beautician Technical Expert to lead a specialized training program aimed at enhancing the skills of beauty salon owners and staff in Ghotki and Khairpur Districts as part of our Green Skills Development Project. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in the beauty industry, with a focus on training and capacity building. This role involves designing and implementing training programs, conducting practical sessions, and supporting the overall development of beauty services in the local community.

Scope of Work

The Beautician Technical Expert will be responsible for:

  • Training Program Development: Develop tailored training programs focusing on (i) human resource development for beauty salon owners and (ii) intern trainer training for skilled beauty salon staff
  • Equipment and Toolkit List Preparation: Work with the procurement officer to prepare a list of equipment and toolkits required for the training sessions.
  • Training Implementation: Deliver training sessions, providing hands-on instruction and ensuring that participants acquire the necessary skills and knowledge.
  • Instructor Training: Train and mentor additional instructors as needed to support the delivery of the training program.
  • Training Status Reporting: Regularly report on the status of training implementation, including progress, challenges, and outcomes.
  • Intern Management Support: Provide support in the management of intern programs and participate in review meetings to assess intern progress.
  • Survey Team Collaboration: Cooperate with the survey team in monitoring and evaluating the training programs, as required.
  • Participant Evaluation: Develop and apply evaluation criteria to assess the performance and progress of training participants.

Expected Outputs/Deliverables

  • Training Programs: Develop and deliver training programs tailored to the needs of beauty salon owners and staff.
  • Training Materials: Create and distribute training materials, including manuals, guides, and practical exercises.
  • Equipment and Toolkit List: Prepare and submit a list of required equipment and toolkits for training.
  • Training Implementation: Conduct and oversee training sessions, ensuring high-quality delivery and participant engagement.
  • Evaluation Reports: Regularly evaluate training participants and provide feedback to support their development.
  • Intern Management: Support the management and evaluation of intern programs, ensuring effective learning outcomes.

Deliverables (90 days):

  • Inception report on needs assessment
  • Develop monthly and weekly work plans
  • Conduct training sessions and mentor additional instructors
  • Evaluate participants and provide progress reports
  • Final Report

Methodology

The expert will:

  • Conduct Needs Assessment: Collaborate with the survey team to conduct a thorough assessment of training needs.
  • Develop and Implement Training Programs: Design and deliver training programs based on the needs assessment and industry best practices.
  • Engage with Trainees: Provide hands-on training and mentoring to participants, adapting the program to meet their needs.
  • Coordinate with Project Team: Work closely with the  team to ensure alignment with project goals and objectives.
  • Monitor and Report: Regularly monitor the progress of training activities and report to the project team.

Key Qualifications

  • Qualified DACUM Facilitator.
  • At least 5 years of experience in providing vocational and skills training, with a focus on beauty services.
  • Experience in projects related to refugee support and/or livelihood improvement is preferred.
  • Proven experience in planning, arranging, and managing interns.
  • Proficiency in English and Urdu is required; knowledge of Dari or Pashto is an asset.
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to work independently.
  • Respect for a multi-cultural environment and refugee communities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Reporting Requirements

The expert will report directly to the Project Manager, providing regular updates on training activities, progress, and any challenges encountered. Monthly progress reports and updates on the implementation of work plans are required.
