Position Summary:

The Assistant Communications Officer will support the project team in creating communication materials that highlight project milestones, progress and beneficiaries' stories and successes. The role will focus on videography, photography, editing, content development for publications, and event management. The candidate will work closely with the project team to ensure all communication materials meet high-quality standards and align with Organizations communication guidelines.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Videography and Photography:
  • Capture high-quality photos and videos of project beneficiaries, field activities, and events.
  • Edit and produce short videos highlighting project impact, beneficiary stories, and events.
  • Organize and archive multimedia assets for easy retrieval.
  1. Editing and Production:
  • Edit raw photo and video footage to create polished content suitable for dissemination.
  • Add subtitles, captions, and other relevant content to videos as needed.
  • Ensure all content is aligned with Organizations branding and communication standards.
  1. Success Stories Collection:
  • Work with project teams and beneficiaries to gather compelling success stories from the field.
  • Conduct interviews with beneficiaries and key stakeholders to document project outcomes.
  • Develop engaging narratives and testimonials that highlight the impact of the project.
  1. Content Creation for Publications:
  • Assist in the design, layout, and production of communication materials, including visibility materials, brochures, newsletters, social media content, and reports.
  • Collaborate with graphic designer to produce professional-quality publications.
  1. Event Management Support:
  • Assist in organizing and covering project-related events, workshops, and field visits.
  • Ensure proper branding and visibility materials are present at events.
  • Capture media and communications materials during events for future use.
  1. Social Media & Digital Communications:
  • Support in developing a digital communication plan, including content for social media platforms.
  1. Coordination and Reporting:
  • Coordinate with field teams, partners, and stakeholders to collect information and stories.
  • Assist in drafting communication reports, providing updates on progress and achievements to the project management team.
  • Ensure timely submission of all communication materials.
  1. Branding and Compliance:
  • Ensure all communication products are in compliance with Organizations branding guidelines.
  • Maintain consistency in messaging, tone, and visual elements across all communication channels.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication, Journalism, Media Studies, or a related field.
  • 1-2 years of experience in communication roles, with a focus on photography, videography, and editing.
  • Familiarity with video editing software (Adobe Premiere, Final Cut Pro) and graphic design software (Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, or InDesign).
  • Familiarity with digital content creation.
  • Strong understanding of branding, design, and publication standards.
  • Experience in event management and media coverage.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of local languages and cultural contexts.
  • This is a 3-month contract, with the possibility of extension based on project needs and funding.
  • Compensation will be commensurate with experience and qualifications as per Organizations guidelines.
