Introduction:

We are seeking a skilled Communication Officer to support our Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) projects, with a focus on Dir and Chitral. The successful candidate will develop case studies, stories, and visual content to improve SIF's visibility and branding, as well as manage social media, liaise with government stakeholders, and produce high-quality communications materials.

General Objectives:

1. Develop case studies, stories, and testimonials highlighting SIF's impact in KP.

2. Produce eye-catching photos, videos, and documentaries showcasing SIF's work.

3. Manage social media platforms, ensuring consistent and engaging content.

4. Liaise with PDMA, provincial, district governments, and line departments to ensure SIF's visibility and understanding of its activities, projects, and requirements.

5. Write briefs, brochures, reports, newsletters, website content, and social media posts.

6. Develop IEC (Information, Education, and Communication) materials, manage pictures database, archives, and knowledge management.

7. Organize events, develop project communication strategies, and collaborate with the country office.

8. Ensure media coverage, maintain media lists, and build relationships with local and national journalists and media persons. 

Position Type/Working Hours:

Full-time position with 40 working hours per week. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

Minimum Requirements and Competencies

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, or related field

Experience

  • 4+ years of experience in communications, preferably in the humanitarian sector

  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
  • Proficiency in local language (e.g. Pashto) is highly desirable.

 

  •  Excellent writing, photography, and video production skills
  • Strong social media management and content creation abilities
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines,
  • Familiarity with KP's cultural context and sensitivity to local customs

 

  •  Respect and promote SIF values and mandate, and report to the line manager any non-respect of SIF’s policies amongst the teams or partners.
  • Address needs and requests in a professional way.
  • Always interact with children in presence of their parents or caregivers.
  • Always respect beneficiaries’ confidentiality.
  • Report any incident or act that causes harm to beneficiaries or to others.
  • Aware of child protection/safeguarding concept.
