U.S. Mission Pakistan is seeking applications from qualified individuals for Maintenance Inspector Level-II position in U.S. Embassy, Islamabad.

 

Basic Function of the Position – The Maintenance Inspector-II is under the general supervision of the Supervisory Manager for Building Trades and Residential Services for Compound Maintenance and Residential Services. Conducts residential make readies process including repairs, improvements, maintenance, and other activities. Responsible for ensuring that off/on compound residential and support spaces meet safety, functionality, environmental health (cleanliness & sanitation), quality, performance, and occupant comfort standards. Conducts comprehensive inspections for both off/on compound facilities including both leased and government owned properties. Provides daily oversight of works at on/off-compound government owned and leased residences including the preparation of residences for new occupants (“make readies”). Annual responsibilities include conducting make readies for on/off compound residences. Performs residential inspections and surveys and advises on deficiencies, repair requirements and improvements needed to the team. Collaborates and coordinates with other Embassy sections on scheduling of make ready. Attends the weekly make ready meetings. Responsible for surveying and evaluating the quality and condition of residences under consideration for new lease or renewal lease. Contributes to development of quality and condition standards. Implements the developed quality control and facility inspection program for both on/off-compound residential and support facilities. Performs surveys and inspections of facilities to ensure spaces meet functionality, environmental health (cleanliness & sanitation), quality and occupant comfort standards in accordance with Bureau of Overseas Buildings Operations (OBO) standards and U.S. health and life safety codes. Develop the nature and extent of the maintenance, repairs, and improvements required for deficient spaces to meet standards. Determines response required to address deficient conditions including immediate or deferred action and/or need for a project. 

Qualification Requirements:

EXPERIENCE: A minimum of three years of progressive responsible experience in a building construction, residential management, or facilities management position in which one of the years must be in project management and/or facility inspection.

EDUCATION: Completion of completion of higher secondary school (12 years of education). Completion of 2 years of vocational school certificate/training program in civil/architecture/facility maintenance /infrastructure/construction related engineering field, or building traders facility trades including electrical, heating, ventilation, air conditioning, plumbing, mechanical, etc. from an accredited institute is also required.

Job Knowledge: The Maintenance Inspector-II must have thorough knowledge of major facility systems, infrastructure, and operations at expert level. Should have understanding about the practices and codes of host country/U.S. buildings and construction. Total familiarity on facility inspection, project and construction management practices. Have the awareness of local construction labor and material cost. Proficient in computer database, programs and applications including Microsoft Office Suite.

LANGUAGE: Good Working Knowledge of Reading/Writing/Speaking in English and Urdu is required. English language skills maybe tested.

Skills And Abilities: The Maintenance Inspector-II must be able to conduct facility inspections and surveys. Work independently with minimum supervision direction. Must be able to draft technical reports and project/activity status reports. Assist staff and contractors for off-compound residential properties. Capable to plan, schedule and organize effectively. Proficiency in using complex computer applications, databases and programs. Employs excellent interpersonal skills and be able to handle a large workload and multiple tasks simultaneously. The Maintenance Inspector-II is required to have a valid, current driver's license for the class of vehicle (s) assigned or authorized to drive (Motor Car). Skills and abilities may be tested.
