Role:

The Community Engagement Officer will play a crucial role in mobilizing and engaging communities within the framework of the project. This role involves identifying stakeholders, organizing community activities, and facilitating awareness campaigns to promote project objectives. The Community Engagement Officer will work closely with project staff, partners, and local communities to foster gender inclusion, prevent and counter violence extremism (P/CVE), and support advocacy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify stakeholders, potential leaders, influential figures, and decision/opinion makers in the working area.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with community members, local leaders, and CSOs to enhance project impact and sustainability.
  • Engage with local communities and stakeholders to promote gender inclusion and advocacy initiatives.
  • Mobilize communities for project activities, focus group discussions, and mass awareness campaigns to promote best practices within targeted communities.
  • Organize community sessions to create awareness and facilitate other program activities
  • Support the organization and coordination of distributions and practices within targeted communities.
  • Plan and execute awareness campaigns focused on P/CVE, gender inclusion, and other project-related topics.
  • Facilitate community dialogue sessions to address local issues and promote social cohesion.
  • Collaborate with CSOs to enhance advocacy efforts and community engagement.
  • Prepare and submit narrative weekly, monthly, quarterly, and other reports on community engagement activities.
  • Develop and maintain gender-segregated data on community activities and participation.
  • Monitor the impact of community engagement efforts and provide feedback for continuous improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with documentation and reporting requirements specified by the organization and supervisor.
  • Maintain accurate records of community engagement activities, including attendance, feedback, and outcomes.
  • Coordinate with project teams to ensure integration and synergy of activities across different components of the project.
  • Assist in mapping services and implementing structural schemes/projects in the community.
  • Perform any other tasks assigned by the supervisor or LPP management.

Qualification: Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Community Development, International Development, or a related field.

Experience: Minimum of 3-4 years of experience in community engagement or mobilization.

Required Skills and Knowledge:

  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Ability to work under pressure, for extended hours, and to meet tight deadlines without compromising the quality of results.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and use discretion when dealing with sensitive political issues.
  • Strong Computer literacy skills in Microsoft Office and communication software
