Position Objectives: |
|||||||
|
Ensure effective procurement, storage, distribution, rational use, and quality assurance of medicines and medical supplies at NHQ for IFRC-supported field operations. The Pharmacist will support health programmes by ensuring compliance with international pharmaceutical standards in medical procurement, inventory management at medical warehouse, coordination with field teams, and dispatch of medical supplies in collaboration with provincial branches and donors. |

Specific Duties, Responsibilities, and Accountabilities:

1 |
Ensure effective management of medicines and medical supplies in line with PRCS medical warehouse manual and procurement policy, the national drug regulatory authority (DRAP) regulations, and IFRC standards. |
||||||
|
2 |
Support procurement processes of pharmaceuticals and medical consumables, including preparation of technical specifications, joint evaluation of documentation, and quality assurance review. |
||||||
|
3 |
Maintain updated inventory records of all medicines, vaccines, and medical supplies, including stock registers, shelf-tags and Medical Warehouse Inventory Management System (MWIMS). |
||||||
|
4 |
Ensure proper storage conditions (temperature, humidity, cold chain where applicable) in compliance with standard pharmaceutical guidelines of IFRC and PRCS. |
||||||
|
5 |
Assist in the procurement of Health and WASH items, maintain inventory record of, and prepare demand, support the procurement for required materials, and coordinate dispatches. |
||||||
|
6 |
Coordinate with health programmes and field teams for timely forecasting, quantification, and distribution of medicines and supplies. |
||||||
|
7 |
Ensure safe record-keeping of the consumption reports from the field teams after dispatch of medicines and medical supplies. |
||||||
|
8 |
Monitor expiry dates, prevent stock-outs and wastage, and ensure proper stock rotation (FEFO/FIFO principles). |
||||||
|
9 |
Conduct periodic audits of pharmaceutical stores and ensure compliance with inventory and accountability standards. |
||||||
|
10 |
Conduct regular field monitoring visits to support the field teams for medicines handling, storage and record keeping, and prepare monitoring report accordingly on standard PRCS formats. |
||||||
|
11 |
Provide technical support in emergency response for medical supplies planning, procurement, and rapid deployment. |
||||||
|
12 |
Support training of staff and volunteers on rational drug use, basic pharmacy management, and safe handling of medicines. |
||||||
|
13 |
Ensure compliance with national drug regulatory authority requirements and PRCS procurement procedures. |
||||||
|
14 |
Coordinate with provincial branches for drug supply requests, dispatches, and reconciliation of pharmaceutical stocks. |
||||||
|
15 |
Assist in strengthening pharmacovigilance and monitoring of adverse drug reactions where applicable. |
||||||
|
16 |
Contribute to development and review of SOPs related to pharmaceutical management and supply chain systems. |
||||||
|
17 |
Ensure accountability mechanisms in pharmaceutical supply chain including transparent documentation and reporting. |
||||||
|
18 |
Maintain emergency pharmaceutical buffer stocks for outbreak and disaster response preparedness. |
||||||
|
19 |
Ensure timely reporting of monthly, quarterly, and annual pharmaceutical stock reports to donors, and internal reporting. |
||||||
|
20 |
Collaborate with procurement and logistics teams for timely delivery and quality assurance of supplies. |
||||||
|
21 |
Inter and Intra sectoral coordination with relevant stakeholders for joint area of implementation and task completion. |

Qualification and Experience |
||||||
|
Bachelor or Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm-D) from HEC recognized institute |
|||||||
|
Valid Pharmacy registration/license from Pharmacy Council of Pakistan (PCP) |
|||||||
|
Minimum 4 to 5 years post qualification experience in pharmaceutical management, supply chain, or health programs (NGO/INGO experience preferred) |
|||||||
|
|
AGE: Maximum Age limit 45 years |

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

|
|
Travelling: Moderate field travel required (30% of the time will be required in the field depending on the programme’s need). |
