Job Purpose
The Trainer will design and deliver practical, gender-responsive training for women on smart kitchen gardening practices that promote food security, ecosystem management, climate resilience, and women’s empowerment.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
- Design and deliver hands-on training sessions on kitchen gardening tailored for women, focusing on smart and climate-resilient agriculture practices.
- Train participants on seasonal vegetable production, seed selection, nursery raising, composting, soil health, water-efficient irrigation, and organic pest management.
- Promote sustainable ecosystem management practices, including biodiversity conservation, soil fertility improvement, and efficient use of natural resources.
- Conduct demonstrations and practical sessions at household or community garden sites.
- Integrate ecosystem-based approaches into kitchen gardening, such as crop rotation, intercropping, mulching, and use of organic inputs.
- Raise awareness on climate change impacts on agriculture and adaptive strategies for small-scale women farmers.
- Encourage environmentally friendly practices that reduce chemical use and protect local ecosystems.
- Ensure gender-responsive training methodologies that address women’s roles, needs, and constraints in agriculture.
- Promote women’s decision-making, leadership, and access to resources through inclusive training approaches.
- Facilitate discussions on equitable workload distribution, nutrition, household food security, and income generation from surplus produce.
- Coordinate with project staff, local partners, and community leaders to mobilize women participants for training sessions.
- Provide follow-up mentoring and on-site technical support to trainees.
- Maintain training attendance records, pre- and post-training assessments, and progress tracking of participants.
- Prepare and submit training report to project manager.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Diploma or bachelor’s degree in agriculture/Horticulture/Environmental Sciences, or a related field.
- Minimum 2–3 years of experience in agricultural training, kitchen gardening, or community-based agriculture programs.
- Proven experience working with women groups and applying gender mainstreaming.
- Strong knowledge of ecosystem management and climate-smart agriculture practices.
- Excellent communication and facilitation skills.
- Familiar with Diamer’s Culture, Languages and Topography.
