We are looking for a detail-oriented, process-driven Accountant / Bookkeeper who can take ownership of day-to-day financial operations while maintaining high accuracy, discipline, and accountability.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform day-to-day bookkeeping in QuickBooks Online (QBO)
• Manage bank, credit card, and control account reconciliations
• Handle accounts payable and receivable processes
• Prepare and maintain monthly working papers and schedules
• Assist in monthly management reporting packs
• Support VAT calculations and submissions (UK-focused)
• POD Processing & Reconciliation: Receiving, scanning, and reviewing delivery documents (PODs) for signatures and accuracy.
• System Recording: Capturing and uploading POD data into transportation management systems.
• Missing POD Follow-up: Proactively chasing drivers, subcontractors, or clients for outstanding delivery documentation.
• Discrepancy Resolution: Investigating shortages, damages, or wrong deliveries reported on the POD and raising Incident Reports (IR).
• Invoicing Support: Ensuring signed PODs are attached to invoices to facilitate timely billing to clients.
• Customer Service: Responding to queries from internal stakeholders and external clients regarding delivery status.
• Process payroll data and maintain payroll records (preferred)
• Identify discrepancies and proactively resolve issues
• Maintain clean, audit-ready records at all times

What We’re Looking For

• Strong hands-on experience with QuickBooks Online (mandatory)
• Solid understanding of UK accounting principles and VAT
• Ability to handle high-volume transactional data with accuracy
• Strong grip on reconciliations (bank, debtor, creditor, intercompany)
• Comfortable working with deadlines and structured processes
• High attention to detail and ownership mindset
• Good written and verbal communication skills
