Relevant Experience: • A minimum of 10–12 years of progressive clinical experience along with management of all clinical (surgical & medical) disciplines in a recognized healthcare setting is required. • Extensive hands-on experience in patient care, clinical decision-making, and multidisciplinary team collaboration. • Prior experience in senior clinical or leadership roles (e.g., Head of Department, Consultant Lead, or equivalent) is strongly preferred. Administrative & Leadership Experience: • Demonstrated experience in healthcare administration and medical leadership, including oversight of clinical operations, service delivery, and departmental performance. Proven ability to manage budgets, workforce, and clinical infrastructure to ensure efficient resource utilization and high-quality care. • Strong track record in leading multidisciplinary teams, with experience in hospital administration, clinical governance, quality improvement, and patient safety initiatives, alongside a solid understanding of regulatory compliance and accreditation standards. • Demonstrated leadership, decision-making, and change management capabilities, with the ability to drive clinical excellence and foster collaboration across diverse healthcare functions.

 

Job Description:

6.1. Leadership and Strategic Planning

  • In alignment with the Executive Director, define and implement the organization’s clinical vision, medical strategy, and long-term healthcare objectives.
  • Lead the development of clinical service lines, ensuring alignment with population health needs, epidemiological trends and institutional priorities.
  • Drive data-informed strategic planning, utilizing clinical outcomes, utilization metrics and benchmarking to optimize service delivery.
  • Provide expert medical input into organizational policies, expansion plans and new program development.

6.2. Clinical Oversight and Quality Assurance

  • Provide direct oversight of clinical governance frameworks, including morbidity & mortality reviews, peer review processes and clinical audit systems.
  • Ensure strict adherence to evidence-based medicine, clinical guidelines and patient safety standards across all facilities.
  • Lead quality improvement (QI) and patient safety initiatives, incorporating root cause analysis, risk assessments and continuous monitoring systems.
  • Monitor and evaluate clinical performance indicators (e.g., infection rates, mortality, readmissions, adverse events) and implement corrective actions.
  • Establish a culture of accountability, ethical practice and continuous clinical excellence.

6.3. Resource Management and Clinical Operations

  • Provide clinical leadership in resource allocation, workforce planning and budget utilization, ensuring optimal use of medical and diagnostic resources.
  • Collaborate with department heads to ensure adequate staffing models, skill mix and workload distribution based on patient acuity and service demand.
  • Oversee the procurement and utilization of medical equipment and technologies, ensuring clinical appropriateness and cost-effectiveness.
  • Support operational efficiency through clinical pathway optimization and reduction of unnecessary variation in care.

6.4. Medical Staff Development and Credentialing

  • Oversee recruitment, privileging and credentialing of medical staff, ensuring qualifications meet institutional and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead continuous professional development (CPD) initiatives, including clinical training, mentorship and leadership development programs.
  • Conduct performance evaluations, competency assessments and peer reviews for medical staff.
  • Promote a culture of lifelong learning, interdisciplinary collaboration and clinical excellence.

6.5. Regulatory Compliance and Accreditation

  • Ensure compliance with national healthcare regulations, licensing requirements and international accreditation standards (e.g., hospital accreditation bodies).
  • Lead preparation for and maintenance of accreditation surveys, audits and inspections across all facilities.
  • Develop and enforce policies that ensure legal, ethical and professional standards in clinical practice.
  • Work closely with compliance and legal teams to mitigate clinical risk and medico-legal exposure.

6.6. Community Engagement and Public Health

  • Engage with the community to promote preventive healthcare, public health awareness and disease management programs.
  • Build strategic partnerships with healthcare institutions, academic bodies and public health organizations.
  • Represent the organization in medical forums, policy discussions and stakeholder engagements.

6.7. Clinical Research and Innovation

  • Promote and oversee clinical research, audits and publication of findings to advance medical knowledge and institutional reputation.
  • Ensure all research activities comply with ethical standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Drive the adoption of innovative medical technologies, digital health solutions and advanced treatment modalities.
  • Encourage a culture of innovation, critical thinking and evidence generation among clinicians.

6.8. Clinical Protocols and Guidelines

  • Lead the development, implementation and periodic review of standardized clinical protocols, care pathways, and treatment guidelines.
  • Ensure alignment with national standards, international best practices and the latest scientific evidence.
  • Monitor compliance with protocols and address variations in clinical practice through audit and feedback mechanisms.
  • Integrate multidisciplinary approaches into patient care pathways.

The Medical Director is responsible for all clinical operations within the directorate and ensuring that directives issued by the Directorate Head are effectively implemented in alignment with the best interests of the directorate and the organization.
