Aga Khan Health Service, Pakistan, is looking for competent Dental Assistant for Karachi Region.
Position Summary
Dental Assistant assists the dentist with patient care, provides patient support, monitors patient comfort and progress, ensures dental supplies are available and inventory maintained, and uphold infection prevention standards to ensure a safe and high quality care environment for patients.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up the dental clinic before the working day starts, Collects patients’ dental records and helps patients get comfortable in the dental chair.
- Assist the dentist during all clinical procedures, including restorations, extractions, endodontics, and surgical treatment, and ensure adequate suction of the oral cavity.Sterilizes and disinfect instruments and equipment, prepare tray setups for dental procedures and instruct patients on postoperative and general oral health care.
- Ensures enough materials for making impressions and restorations, expose radiograph and process dental x-ray film as directed by a dentist.
- Maintains and clean polish removable appliances
- Coordinates the schedule and confirm appointments.
- Ensures that patient receive all necessary paperwork and that all forms are signed and dated correctly including treatment consent forms.
- Liaises closely with the reception to ensure all the procedural billings are done correctly as per the details mentioned on the dental card and lab bills are cross checked as per patient receipts at the end of the month
- Performs any other tasks as assigned by the Line Manager.
- Manage dental inventory, including submitting quarterly item requests, tracking, and restocking supplies and materials.
- Maintain dental equipment and report any malfunctions to the supervisor/biomedical department.
- Timely submission of dental floor stock on a monthly basis.
- A diploma or bachelor’s degree in Dental from a recognized institution.
- Registration certificate from the Ministry of Public Health.
- Minimum 1 to 2 years of experience, preferably within healthcare systems or large service organizations.
- Strong Interpersonal communication skills.
- Demonstrates clear and effective verbal and written communication skills; proficiency in local language is an advantage.

- Strong integrity with the sensitivity to manage confidential information.
- Demonstrates superior organizational skills and the agility to multitask and assume changing strategic responsibilities in a dynamic environment.
