Context
Relief International (RI) is an international non-profit organization that partners with communities impacted by conflict, climate change and disaster to save lives, build greater resilience and promote long-term health and wellbeing.
Our team of more than 7,000 staff and local volunteers work in 15 countries across Africa, Asia, and the Middle East, providing Health and Nutrition, WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene), Education and Livelihoods programming that creates the foundation for community resilience.
We do this by working with local actors to develop safe and inclusive local programming that is evidence based, conflict sensitive, climate smart, and reaches those in need.

In Pakistan, RI works with government institutions, communities, local organizations and humanitarian partners to deliver safe, inclusive and accountable programs across protection, mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS), education, health, livelihoods and WASH, including programming in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan.
Job Profile
The Communication & Partnership Coordinator is a dynamic, versatile role that bridges communication, content development, program development and partnership support for RI Pakistan. The position translates program evidence and results into accurate and compelling content, strengthens RI's visibility and positioning, and supports the development and expansion of high-quality, fundable programs.
Reporting to the Head of Programs, the Coordinator works closely with program, MEAL, Awards Management, Finance, Operations, HR and field teams in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, as well as regional and global colleagues. The role supports communication planning, donor and public-facing products, proposal development, partner mapping and assessment, due diligence, award tracking and timely information management while ensuring compliance with RI, donor, safeguarding, consent, data-protection and branding requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Communication Strategy and Content Development
- Develop and implement country and project communication plans aligned with RI's mission, Pakistan country priorities, program objectives, donor requirements and approved global communication guidance.
- Produce, edit and quality-assure high-quality content, including success stories, human-interest stories, case studies, newsletters, blogs, project briefs, talking points, presentations, social media materials and relevant sections of donor reports.
- Work with program and MEAL teams to translate assessments, monitoring data, learning and results into clear, accurate and engaging narratives for donors, partners, communities and other approved audiences.
- Develop and support policy messages, key messages, newsletters, capability statements and other communication products required for external engagement and organizational positioning.
- Maintain an editorial and content calendar that anticipates donor milestones, campaigns, reporting deadlines, international days, field visits and organizational priorities.
- Ensure all external content is fact-checked, appropriately approved, conflict sensitive and consistent with RI's organizational voice, humanitarian principles and Do No Harm commitments.
Strategic Communication Planning and Technical Support
- Provide practical technical guidance to field teams, program staff and implementing partners on communication planning, storytelling, ethical documentation and development of high-quality information, education and communication (IEC) materials.
- Support dissemination, understanding and consistent application of communication standard operating procedures, approval workflows, consent requirements, image-use standards and document-retention arrangements.
- Facilitate program teams and partners in the design and delivery of approved media, awareness and outreach campaigns, ensuring that objectives, audiences, messages, channels, risks and measures of success are clearly defined.
- Coordinate with relevant teams and stakeholders to obtain timely inputs, verify technical accuracy, complete required reviews and secure approvals before publication or external circulation.
- Build the capacity of designated staff and partners through coaching, tools and short training sessions on content development, photography, interviewing, visibility and ethical storytelling.
Digital, Multimedia and Brand Management
- Manage or coordinate approved updates to RI's website and social media channels, working through authorized country, regional and global processes.
- Plan and produce or coordinate multimedia content, including photographs, short videos, interviews and human-interest stories that document program quality, community perspectives, learning and impact.
- Ensure informed consent, dignity, confidentiality, safeguarding and data minimization in all interviews, images, videos and stories, with particular care for children and people affected by protection risks.
- Maintain an organized, searchable and secure library of approved photographs, videos, stories, consent records, IEC materials, branding assets and final communication products.
- Monitor digital engagement and content-performance metrics, identify lessons and provide concise recommendations to improve reach, relevance and audience engagement.
- Ensure staff and partner compliance with RI and donor communication policies, visibility requirements, branding guidance and restrictions on media or public representation.
Program Development, Donor Engagement and Resource Mobilization
- Contribute to donor mapping, opportunity tracking, capture planning and resource-mobilization efforts, with particular attention to institutional donors, bilateral agencies, foundations and strategic partners relevant to RI Pakistan.
- Support development of expressions of interest, concept notes and full proposals through research, drafting, editing, formatting, evidence compilation, capability statements, past-performance materials and coordination of inputs.
- Work with program, technical and MEAL colleagues to ensure proposals and donor materials clearly articulate needs, target groups, technical approaches, results, learning, partnerships, sustainability and RI's added value.
- Prepare concise donor briefs, presentations, talking points, project summaries and communication packages for meetings, field visits and external engagement led by the Country Director, Head of Programs or other authorized representatives.
- Maintain reusable evidence and content on RI's technical capacities, geographic presence, results, partnerships, community feedback and organizational experience to strengthen future proposals and donor positioning.
- Support timely internal review and submission of accurate, consistent and donor-compliant proposal and communication packages without making external commitments outside delegated authority.
Partnership and Award Support
- Support mapping, shortlisting and assessment of potential national and local partner organizations in coordination with program, technical, Awards Management, Finance, Operations, HR, safeguarding and security colleagues.
- Support partner vetting and due-diligence processes, follow up on required documents and actions, and ensure complete, current and appropriately restricted records are maintained.
- Enter and update required partnership and award information in RI's approved award or grants-management systems and maintain accurate partnership databases, trackers and document repositories.
- Support preparation, routing and tracking of partnership and award documentation, ensuring that inputs and submissions reach the Awards Management unit within agreed timelines.
- Support partner capacity-strengthening and follow-up related to communications, branding, reporting, safeguarding, documentation and other identified compliance or performance requirements.
- Promote equitable, respectful and transparent partnerships by documenting partner contributions, feedback, capacity priorities and agreed follow-up actions.
Coordination, Monitoring and Field Support
- Maintain regular coordination with project teams and offices in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan to identify communication opportunities, documentation gaps, partner issues, upcoming deliverables and support needs.
- Undertake regular field visits to collect verified content, support partners and teams, monitor visibility and branding, and document program progress, learning and community perspectives.
- Maintain communication, proposal and partnership trackers; provide timely updates to the Head of Programs; and escalate delays, quality concerns, consent issues or reputational risks.
- Coordinate communications and partnership inputs for internal reviews, donor reports, program learning events, evaluations, audits and project close-out as required.
- Carry out other relevant responsibilities assigned by the Head of Programs that are consistent with the purpose and level of the role.
Behavior and Conduct

- Master's degree in communications, journalism, development studies, international relations, public relations, social sciences or another relevant field.
- Five to seven years of relevant professional experience in communications, program development, partnerships, awards or grants within the humanitarian or development sector.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and edit high-quality content, including stories, case studies, newsletters, IEC materials, digital content, briefs and donor-facing materials.
- Experience supporting proposal development, donor engagement, organizational positioning or resource-mobilization processes.
- Experience supporting partner mapping, organizational assessments, vetting, due diligence, documentation or award-management processes.
- Excellent English writing, editing and storytelling skills, with the ability to convert complex program information and data into clear content for different audiences.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in Urdu; ability to work with local-language colleagues and translators to ensure accuracy and cultural appropriateness.
- Practical experience in photography, video, social media, content-management systems, digital analytics or common design and editing tools.
- Understanding of informed consent, safeguarding, confidentiality, data protection, conflict sensitivity and ethical representation of crisis-affected people.
- Strong planning, coordination and information-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet fixed internal and donor deadlines.
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse, geographically dispersed teams, partners and stakeholders and to operate with professionalism, diplomacy and sound judgment.
- Willingness and ability to undertake approximately 30% field travel, subject to RI's security and access protocols.
Desirable criteria
- Experience working on programs in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa or Balochistan and an understanding of the local media, civil-society and stakeholder environment.
- Experience with Dutch MFA, EU/ECHO, FCDO, USG, UN, GIZ or other institutional and bilateral donors.
- Experience using award or grants-management systems, partnership databases, digital asset libraries or structured content-approval workflows.
- Working knowledge of Pashto, Balochi or another language relevant to RI's areas of operation in Pakistan.
- Experience supporting communication or partnership capacity-strengthening for local organizations.
