Job Purpose

The Social Mobilizer will be responsible for effective community engagement and mobilization to support the implementation of WASH, DRR and livelihood interventions in the targeted villages. The position will facilitate meaningful participation of women, men, youth, vulnerable groups and other community stakeholders such as VDCs, DRR & CERT committees throughout the project cycle, using participatory approaches and PRA tools to identify community needs, priorities, risks and available resources.

Key Responsibilities

  • Mobilize and engage communities for effective implementation of WASH, DRR and livelihood activities.
  • Conduct community meetings, consultations, awareness sessions and group discussions with different community groups.
  • Facilitate participatory assessments using PRA tools and techniques, including social/resource mapping, seasonal calendars, problem ranking, vulnerability and capacity assessment, transect walks and focus group discussions.
  • Support identification and prioritization of community WASH, DRR and livelihood needs.
  • Facilitate formation and strengthening of community-based structures, including WASH and DRR committees.
  • Promote community ownership, participation and sustainability of project interventions.
  • Facilitate awareness sessions on PATS approach, hygiene promotion, sanitation, safe water practices, disaster preparedness, climate risks and livelihood opportunities.
  • Facilitate external consultants during execution of different capacity building workshops at the community level.
  • Support beneficiary identification and verification for latrine material distribution, orchards and other material in accordance with approved project criteria.
  • Ensure meaningful participation and inclusion of women, persons with disabilities, vulnerable households and marginalized groups.
  • Support livelihood-related activities including market/skill needs identification, community consultations and linkages with relevant service providers.
  • Coordinate with local government departments, community leaders, schools, health facilities and other relevant stakeholders at field level.
  • Document community feedback, concerns, complaints and recommendations and refer them through appropriate mechanisms.
  • Maintain accurate records of community meetings, attendance, assessments, awareness sessions and other field activities.
  • Support project monitoring by collecting field-level information and beneficiary feedback.
  • Identify implementation challenges, community concerns and emerging risks and report them promptly to the supervisor.
  • Support monitoring of project activities and provide regular field updates.
  • Perform any other duties related to project implementation as assigned by the supervisor.

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, Development Studies, Rural Development, Sociology, Community Development or a related field.
  • At least 4-5 years of relevant experience in community mobilization, preferably in WASH, DRR, livelihoods, climate resilience or humanitarian/development projects.
  • Good practical experience in PRA tools and participatory community assessment methodologies.
  • Experience in facilitating community meetings, FGDs, awareness sessions and participatory assessments.
  • Experience working with community-based organizations, committees and local stakeholders.
  • Good understanding of community dynamics, vulnerability, inclusion and gender-sensitive approaches.
  • Experience in flood/disaster-prone or rural communities will be an advantage.
  • Fluency in local languages (Lasi & Balochi), Urdu and preferably basic English.
  • Good interpersonal, communication, facilitation and reporting skills.
  • Good command of computer and MS office applications (Word & Excel).
  • Willingness and ability to travel frequently to project communities and work in field conditions.
