Aga Khan Health Service, Pakistan invites applications from qualified, experienced, and dynamic candidates for the position of Nutrition Counsellor.
Position Summary:
The Nutrition Counsellor will provide essential nutrition guidance and support to communities under the Central Asia Stunting Initiative (CASI) project. This role involves assessing women and child nutritional needs, delivering individual and group counseling, monitoring growth, and promoting healthy behaviors particularly among pregnant and lactating women, children, and adolescents. The counsellor will coordinate with healthcare staff, maintain accurate records, facilitate community awareness sessions, and support Social-Behavior Change Communication (SBCC) initiatives to reduce undernutrition and improve overall community health.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess family’ nutritional and health needs and develop culturally appropriate nutrition plans based on available resources.
- Provide individual and group nutrition counseling on healthy diets, meal planning, cooking practices, and disease prevention.
- Deliver targeted support to pregnant and lactating women (MIYCN), children, adolescents, and individuals with chronic conditions or comorbidities.
- Conduct need based nutritional screening and growth monitoring (weight, height, MUAC) and track growth trajectories.
- Coordinate with healthcare staff and refer complicated cases to appropriate facilities such as LBWs, anemic etc.
- Maintain accurate individual records and submit regular activity, progress, and stock reports.
- Organize and facilitate community awareness sessions, cooking demonstrations and mother-to-mother support groups, positive deviance approaches.
- Conduct community meetings and inform local stakeholders about existing social and behavioral issues.
Qualification, Experience & Skills Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in nutrition, Dietetics, Public Health Nutrition, Food Sciences, and related field. Master’s degree in related field will be preferred.
- Minimum 2–3 years in nutrition programs, field work, or clinical counseling.
- Strong communication, counseling, and interpersonal skills.
