CHILD SAFEGUARDING:

Level 3:  the post holder will have contact with children and/or young people either frequently (e.g. once a week or more) or intensively (e.g. four days in one month or more or overnight) because they work country programs; or are visiting country programs; or because they are responsible for implementing the police checking/vetting process staff.

ROLE PURPOSE:

Under general supervision of SHC, responsible for organization, maintenance, and management of clinic pharmacy and drug distribution to the clinic clients.  Fills drug orders, requisitions, and way bills dispenses medicines, advise the health team regarding the nature and use of drugs, and train and/or supervise pharmacy staff at various sites. Prepare and maintain all necessary records on drugs purchased, received dispatched and inventory.

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:

  • Responsible for pharmaceuticals and medical equipment and consumables planning and management as part of the supply chain process. This includes contributing to proposals, BoQ, PRs, Biddings and technical review, quality check, rejection report if needed, and medicine distribution plan.
  • Oversees the acquisition (prepares drug orders) and disbursement of drugs and medical supplies to  clinics and field sites, under direction of Health & Nutrition Advisor, ensuring maintenance of cold chain as necessary and monitoring drug consumption,
  • Liaises with Logistics Procurement department regarding drugs and medical supplies orders, buffer stocks and distribution to the Health Facilities/ clinics in a timely manner.
  • Advise medical practitioners on drug indications/contraindications, dosage, drug interactions, and side effects; provides other drug and pharmaceutical information as appropriate.
  • Provides guidance and training to Dispensers at various clinic sites during course of work, monitoring performance; working closely with the other members of the Health Team
  • Maintains methods and manner of storage and recordkeeping systems to provide for safekeeping of pharmaceuticals in line with drug management and logistics guidelines (Keep both paper and computer records)
  • Follows established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives, continuous quality improvement objectives, and safety, environmental standards
  • Keep records of serious untoward incidents e.g. drug errors, poor quality, and expired drugs as requested by Health & Nutrition Advisor.
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned, by the Health & Nutrition Advisor or Logistics Team as long as these do not interfere with routine work tasks.
  • Prepare and submit reports to all concerned within due time.

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy OR Doctor of Pharmacy

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

  • Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy with a minimum of 5 years’ experience.
  • Or Doctor of Pharmacy with a minimum of 4 year experience.
  • Must have working experience in humanitarian emergencies.
  • Working experience of supply chain.
  • Fluency English and local languages will be an advantage.
  • Experience in dispensing and vaccination will be an advantage.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and demonstrate flexibility, motivation, and maturity
  • Willingness to travel extensively in the different areas, as needed.
