Purpose of the role: 

CABI-SFPK JV is implementing a project “Establishment of Model Farms Project” (EMFP) funded by the Agriculture Department, Government of Punjab with the mandate to increase yield, improve quality of horticulture products and enhance exports through local and international market linkages. The project is working on the development of Mango, Citrus, Potato and other Vegetables through technical assistance and financial support.

The project is seeking expert to manage and execute the Marketing Component under this EMFP project. Marketing component includes (1) domestic activities: setting up and organizing domestic agricultural exhibitions (Pakistan Horti Expo & Punjab Agri Expo), planning and execution of Bucket Bank – a trading platform and (2) international activities: identifying international exhibitions happening around world relevant to horticulture sector; selection of potential Pakistani exporters and introducing them in agreed international exhibition through participatory approach and setting up B2B meetings with international buyers; analyze the market trends and prioritize the countries to organize and execute the promotional campaigns to promote the trade.

This position is initially to be recruited for 03 months (December 2021 to February 2022) with probation period; however, the successful candidate based on satisfactorily performance is expected to be continued till completion of project.

Key accountabilities:

  • The Marketing Expert (Horticulture) will be responsible for successful execution of Marketing Component – both Domestic Marketing (Pakistan Horti Expo, Punjab Agri Expo, Bucket Bank) and International Marketing (participation in international exhibitions, promotional campaigns).
  • Develop and implement work plan for developing market linkages between Project target beneficiaries and partners and market players in the high potential markets across Pakistan and region.
  • Work with project partners and beneficiaries including farmer groups and exporters to enhance their capacity for selling/exporting their produce at competitive prices and thereby enhancing their profitability.
  • Liaise with marketing support institutions, trade bodies and other support agencies, institutions and projects for assisting project beneficiaries and partners for enhancing marketability of their produce.
  • Facilitate the establishment and strengthening of all strategic market linkages across the target value chains, including those between farmers and agribusinesses and processors and subsequently between downstream processors, traders, exporters and retailers.
  • Take part in the development of programs and assist in activity implementation including development of concept notes, budgets, SOWs, memos etc.
  • Periodically review and update TORs, work plans, detailed activity plans and other project planning/ management related documents with the team, as and when needed.
  • Provide programmatic and operations support for all marketing activities at the Project, including those relating to the selected value chains.
  • Design, Plan and budget marketing events and promotional campaigns for the Project’s target product lines.
  • Provide support and collaboration to the Grants component of the project for the implementation of grant activities.
  • Any other assignments required for satisfactory completion of the key role requirements.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

Education & Experience

  • Candidates should have earned at least master’s degree in agribusiness or social sciences.

Experience

  • Minimum 5-8 years’ experience in related field.
  • Experience of participation in national and international exhibitions.
  • Candidates with the certificates of subject related trainings and having experience to work for promotion of horticultural products will be given preference.
  • Experience and ability to work in tight schedules and within limited timeframes
  • Strong technical report writing skills.
  • Ability to plan work schedules to meet agreed deadlines.
  • Practical and pragmatic – preferably with experience of working with international organizations.
  • Experience of marketing plans development and marketing materials development.
