Job Summary:
S/He will be responsible to provide the necessary management and leadership to plan, implement, monitor, evaluate and financially guide all AKHS,P health care programs in the region. As Regional Head, s/he will be responsible for maintaining appropriate relationships with governance, government agencies, community and other stakeholders/institutions who are working in health sector in the area. S/he will also be responsible to assist the CEO in achieving the defined and agreed targets through developing a motivated and focused team that will ensure the delivery of high quality health care services to the targeted population in the region
 
Routine Tasks:
 
•Facilitate/support the activities of the support systems of regions which are Finance, Human Resource, Facility & Support, Marketing/Resource Mobilization and IT.
•Coordinate with the CEO in managing the regional program in order to achieve the program objectives.
•Develop strong and constructive liaison with the Local, Regional Health Boards & Local & Regional Councils.
•Provide direction to the quality improvement strategies for the delivery of the health services e.g. organization, audit and accreditation.
•Liaise effectively with the Internal/External Audit and work with senior management team to resolve audit queries raised by internal and external auditors.
•Ensure validity and consistency of data by verifying entries in data generating instrument and ensure timely submission of reports.
•Monitor and encourage field team and health center staff in developing and implementing a continuous quality improvement process.
•Ensure that medicines and supplies placed in the health facility follow the safety standards.
•Demonstrate integrity, sincerity and loyalty through strictly abiding by the rules, processes procedures, practices and code of conduct.
•Define and delegate work responsibilities with clear expectations and outcomes.
•Contribute to the development of the new initiatives and innovations as advised by the technical support unit (TSU)
•Ensure that no malpractice is taking place in any of the facilities and should report to concern authority immediately if found.
•Contribute to financial control and cost reduction in the regional program.
•Ensure daily / weekly / monthly cash reports are submitted to finance with deposit slips through the designated resources.
•Contribute in budget making process effectively based on data analysis.
•Implement and monitor the infectious disease surveillance system and promptly adopting epidemic control measures.
•Assist in strengthening linkages with AKDN network and other Government and NGOs functioning in the region.
•Perform any other task/duties assigned by the Management
 
 
Position Specification (Knowledge, Qualifications and Experience): 
Academic/Professional Qualification
MBBS with Master’s degree preferably in public health/allied fields/management or Master in business administration or Master in Nursing with atleat five years’ experience in public health management
 
Experience and Training
At least five years of relevant work experience in the fields of Management or Health Planning in a reputable institution/organization preferably in an NGO

•Demonstrated personal commitment to the mission, vision, values and ethics of the company, accepts responsibility and be accountable for the work assigned.
•A leader with presence and stature, able to forge partnerships, build trust and command respect.
•Possess strong communication, interpersonal skills, leadership abilities to initiate the cost curtailing strategies and report writing with fluency in spoken and written English Language.
Excellent command over Microsoft Applications.
