Case Manager – GBV/Child Protection

Summary: The GBV/Child Protection Case Manager will work to ensure improved quality of health and psychosocial support for survivors, support development of a functional referral networks that enhance survivors’ ability to receive confidential, safe, and timely services that meets their needs in a timely manner. He/ She will oversee Case management and psychosocial support services provided to child and survivors of gender-based violence and women and girls in general, implementation of basic psychosocial support activities for women and girls at the outreach sites and local partner support.

Key Job Outcomes:

  1. Strategic Plan and Budget Implementation. Works with the teams to implement the strategic approach of the project specific to survivor of violence and prevention of SGBV. Assists in the development of quarterly and annual plans  for the project implementation. 
  2. Coordination. Develop and maintain strong coordination with refugees’ camps and all relevant stakeholders like Deputy Commissioner, District Health Officer.
  3. Provide direct support and care for adult survivors of GBV and age-appropriate specialized support and care for adolescent, male and girl child survivors of GBV, including counseling and case management.
  4. Follow GBV guiding principles of respect, confidentiality, and safety/security and non- discrimination while providing services.
  5. Establish a proper management to ensure that survivors from more rural and underserved areas can access information about service provision and that action can be taken to facilitate their ability to receive services in a timely fashion
  6. Ensure proper documentation of reported GBV incidences through utilization of GBV IMS case intake, action, follow up and other case management forms appropriately.
  7. Ensure all documentations on reported cases and referrals made are updated, accurate, organized and well maintained by social workers.
  8. Work with stakeholders to develop and strengthen referral networks and monitor the implementation of the referral pathway to improve survivors’ access to confidential, safe GBV and child protection services in a timely manner to meet their needs
  9. Ensure adherence to GBV guiding principles and the provision of survivor-centered care (respect wishes, decisions of survivors).
  10. In consultations with women and girls, develop and support to implement a series of age-appropriate and group emotional and social support activities for women and girls, with an emphasis on meeting the needs of survivors of GBV and strengthening support networks among women and girls.
  11. In consultations with GBV officer, develop and implement/ share monthly response plan and GBV key messages/issues based on case trends to disseminate information on services available and referral pathways.
  12. Clear understanding, including demonstrated positive attitudes on gender inequality, and issues surrounding violence against women and girls
  13. Ability to maintain confidentiality and respect for clients always is essential

  16. Submit monthly work plan / activity calendar with Program team.
  17. Create linkages and referrals as per the need of the project.
  18. Meeting and Forum Attendance. Attends relevant meetings as well as forums to foster and enhance collaboration. Identifies new and improved approaches, methods and ideas.
  19. Report writing and sharing with direct supervisor
  20. Any other task assigned by direct supervisor for smooth implementation of the project

 

 

Minimally Required Job-Specific Competencies:

  • Country Specific Public Health System: Foundational knowledge of countries’ public health systems.
  • Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights Services: Foundational knowledge of family planning and reproductive health principles, practices and services of assigned program or project, including program or project strategies and indicators.
  • Ability to deliver training to diverse groups.
  • Data Processing: Foundational knowledge of data processing.
  • PC Applications: Foundational knowledge of database and internet applications.
  • Should have preferably worked in project or field related activities.
  • Ability to lead, train, supervises, facilitates and motivates other GBV staff and local partners in their respective tasks in a professional, respectful and supportive manner.
  • Positive and professional attitude, able to organize, maintain composure and prioritize work under pressure, work overtime when necessary and can coordinate multiple tasks and maintain attention to detail. Ability to work as a member of a team essential.
  • Counseling and experience/ working with women and girls in the direct provision of counseling and psychosocial support to survivors of gender-based violence with a reputable organization or local women organizations/groups, including experience counseling survivors of abuse or violence.
  • Excellent listening and observation skills, including ability to create trust, support, respect and interact with survivors of all ages, background and diversity
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in the direct provision of counseling and psychosocial support to survivors of gender-based violence, including child survivors preferred and an added advantage but not a must.
  • Ability to work in a complex environment, responsible for multiple tasks and produce high quality results in a short time.
  • Computer skills: MS Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint Ability, and willingness for frequent travel to the field sites.
  • Excellent coordination skills with demonstrated ability to work cooperatively as a member of a team.
  • Ability to ensure adherence to applicable laws and regulations.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise confidentiality and professionalism
  • Covid vaccination certificate would be desirable as per government protocols.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Passion for Sexual and Reproductive Health Services: Commitment to family planning, reproductive health services, gender, maternal, child health services, and eradication of harmful traditional practices
  • Organization, Planning and Multi-tasking: Advanced organizational and planning skills, project planning and management skills. Ability to set priorities, meet deadlines and multi-task with minimal supervision. Proven ability to coordinate activities.

Minimally Required Education, Training and Experience:

  • Bachelor/master’s in social work/Social Sciences/Humanitarian
  • Diploma in Counseling/psychology/ health or other related field preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge of Gender Based Violence, Child Protection and Interagency Policies and Protocols
  • A minimum of 3 years international humanitarian field experience.
  • Relevant educational background and knowledge of the UN.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the complexity related to refugee and IDP situations
  • Preferred: Certification in Child Protection, Gender Based Violence Mechanisms or areas as such
  •
