Background:
The USAID funded Pakistan Regional Economic Integration Activity (PREIA) is a nine year (September 1, 2015 – August 31, 2024), USD 24 Million project that aims to further the development of Pakistan’s trade sector. PREIA’s focus on trade promotion and facilitation includes collaboration with the public and private sector stakeholders in Pakistan to improve trade and transit competitiveness that results in increased trade and transit volumes. Through technical assistance and capacity development, PREIA also supports enhanced regional economic integration with Pakistan’s neighbors through increased access to international and regional markets.
Objectives and Duties:
DAI seeks a Senior Analyst: Customs and Trade Facilitation to:
i. Support the capacity of Pakistan Customs and relevant private sector stakeholders to implement customs facilitation reforms; and
ii. Support the public and the private sector stakeholders in Pakistan to promote regional trade.
Essential Duties
The Senior Analyst: Customs and Trade Facilitation will assist the Component 2 Lead: Customs and Trade Facilitation Advisor in the conceptualization, implementation and management of technical and capacity building assistance to Pakistan Customs and related public and private sector organizations relevant to customs and trade facilitation reform implementation. Roles and responsibilities will include but will not be limited to:
- Conducting research;
- Conceptualizing technical and capacity building assistance along with budget development and planning;
- Assisting in identifying and recruiting resources for the successful implementation of the technical assistance and capacity building efforts;
- Managing the implementation of the technical assistance and capacity building efforts, ensuring alignment with project goals and objectives;
- Maintaining effective communication and liaison with service providers as needed;
- Provide timely input and information to periodic reporting requirements set by PREIA management;
- Perform any other duties or assignments as requested by the Component Two Lead or DCOP.
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of relevant experience related to trade and customs facilitation is preferred.
- Demonstrated ability and experience to work collaboratively within a team.
- Master’s degree in project management, business administration or similar relevant field.
- Excellent English writing, speaking, reading, with good communication skills.
- An extremely well organized and self-directed individual with sound technical skills, analytical ability, good judgment, and strong operational focus.
- Demonstrated ability to support implementation of technical assistance, preferably on USAID programs.
