General Responsibilities (Overall purpose)

 

Reporting to the Project Manager and in close coordination with the Child Protection Project Manager in MCD, the Child Protection Monitor is responsible to ensure quality implementation of the community mobilization activities, such as household-to-household outreach, awareness raising sessions and events for boys, girls, men, and women, including community leaders, on child protection and education themes. This includes supporting and strengthening the community-based child protection and education structures and mechanisms. S/he is also responsible for psychosocial support activities for children and their families/care givers.

Specific Responsibilities / Context  (Tasks)

 

  • In direct supervision of the Project Manager, he/she will coordinate the implementation of awareness raising sessions and events for girls, boys, men and women in the targeted communities and structured PSS sessions for children and caregivers.
  • Identify child protection issues through consultation with community leaders and community members to inform development of the awareness raising sessions and events.
  • Contribute to drafting the content of awareness raising sessions and events for various target groups and ensure it is age and gender appropriate.
  • Identify, train and support community-based Child Protection Members and WASH committees on how to identify and adequately respond to cases of children at risk.
  • Deliver training on Child Protection Minimum Standards and other child protection related capacity building training to formal and nonformal child protection actors in the field.
  • Consult with community members and leaders to set up appropriate with functioning and accessible complaint and feedback mechanisms.
  • Contribute to the design of Information, Education and Communication materials and coordinate information dissemination within the community.
  • Conduct service mapping and regularly update it based on the target communities and ensure cases needing additional support are referred to the appropriate partner agencies.
  • Hold regular meetings with the relevant stakeholders (local formal and informal authorities, CP and non-CP actors, public services) to familiarize them with the project, its objectives and engage them in its implementation.
  • Collect and document the data (attendance sheets, KAP surveys, questionnaires of satisfaction, pre-post-tests etc) in line with project indicators.
  • Work in close collaboration and in coordination with community members, CP and non-CP actors, local authorities, and public services operational at the project location.
  • Participate in internal / external meetings related to the project areas and communicate well on the outcomes with the line manager.
  • Establish strong communication and coordination channels with service providers operational at the project location.
  • As requested by the Project Manager to assist with safety audits and other protection mainstreaming monitoring activities.
  • Promote, and ensure project activities are in line with Child Protection Minimum Standards and humanitarian principles.

This role requires a mastery of Personal, Social and Leadership Competencies (PSLC), Technical and Methodological Competencies (TMC) and Management and Strategic Competencies (MSC)

In particular:

  • Be able to evaluate specific needs and to develop action points for individual protection cases;
  • Be able to identify the problems associated with the delivery of the program and inform line manager, HR, logistics, and beneficiaries, in line with guidance from line manager.

 

Requirements for the position

 

 

 

 

Education / Qualifications

University degree in social work, social studies, human rights, or relevant field.

 

 

Experience

Minimum 2 years of experience in the field of child protection/protection/education/SGBV/social work/case management.

 

Languages

English, Urdu, Pashto

 

Objectives for the upcoming period to be completed on the appraisal interview form with the hierarchical line manager.
