Job Title:                              WASH Officer

Job Grade Level:                 II

Reports to:                           WASH Coordinator           

Role/Responsibilities:

Under the guidance and supervision of the Senior WASH Coordinator, the WASH Officer will be responsible for the following deliverables;

  • The WASH officer will be responsible for ensuring that WASH-related activities are technically sound and impact positively on the lives of the targeted beneficiaries.
  • Coordinate the water, sanitation, and hygiene component of the Project and maintains overall responsibility for technical oversight of Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) activities.
  • Identify basic and specific needs and deliver appropriate Wash NFI according to Wash Sector strategies.
  • Water sampling at water points and the household level.
  •  Organization and conduction of Hygiene Promotion campaigns.
  • Provide technical oversight and coordination of both community and school-based WASH-related components of the project.
  • Ensure the development of project work plans, ensuring that targets are met and project outcomes are achieved.
  • Assist the water quality testing procedure and transportation for lab testing to perform analysis of bacteriological, physical, and chemical quality.
  • Ensure the design, oversight, and monitoring of water activities.
  • Work closely with project staff, government entities, and other stakeholders to design and implement targeted strategies for improved community participation in improving water activities.
  • Collaborate with other ongoing projects to ensure effective coordination of the project activities.
  • Liaise with the donor and government officials as needed.
  • Contribute detailed and accurate written inputs to fulfill project technical and financial reporting requirements.
  • Coordinate with partners, sub-grantees, government agencies, and international and local NGOs on project activities as needed.
  • Serve as the primary representative of project WASH activities within and outside the project.
  • Participate in relevant coordination meetings to present project activities, ensure coordination with other projects, and assure the highest quality of project implementation.
  • To safeguard and improve the Hygiene Conditions and public health of the project area.
  • Promoting water conservation measures at the household level/community level.
  • Ensuring appropriate community involvement in the design and delivery of essential Wash services and facilities.
  • Ensuring effective coordination and integration of Hygiene Promotion activities with the delivery of water and sanitation services and facilities.
  • Ensuring coordination of Hygiene Promotion methodologies with the organization program sector.
  • Participation in the Wash working groups/Clusters and collaboration on new methodologies.
  • Any other job-related added task assigned by the supervisor.
  • Respecting the policies of Cesvi and the state.

Qualifications:

a.       Education

DAE in Civil Engineering or any other relevant position of study.

Expertise in Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene promotion.

b.       Experience:

Minimum of 03 years of relevant professional experience in a similar position in NGOs/INGOs/UN Agencies. Knowledge of surrounding areas and local context in WASH in an emergency is desired.

c.       Competencies:

Superior organizational skills and ability to multi-task, work under pressure, meeting deadlines in a fast-paced fluid environment.

Excellent interpersonal communication skills to build the link with staff, partners, government officials, donors, and other relevant stakeholders.

Creative and flexible with problem-solving skills.

Demonstrated professionalism and diplomacy.

Ability to confidently represent oneself to high-level officials.

d.       Technical Skills:

Confident and proficient in using MS Office, proficiency in Sindhi and English (written and spoken) is mandatory.

Contract Duration                                                            

08 Months, (extendable) 

Salary Range                                                     

65,000 (Per month)                          

 

These are Emergency Response Fixed term Position, this  position will be filled on rolling basis and applications will be closed as soon as positions are filled.

Preference will be given to the Local candidates, who can join immediately without notice periods.
