CHILD SAFEGUARDING:

Level 3:  the post holder will have contact with children and/or young people either frequently (e.g. once a week or more) or intensively (e.g. four days in one month or more or overnight) because they work country programs; or are visiting the country programs; or because they are responsible for implementing the police checking/vetting process staff.

ROLE PURPOSE:

The Education Coordinator is primarily responsible for the implementation and management of education in emergency projects for the Floods 2022 Emergency Response in respective field areas. Working closely with the country office Manager Education, Education Advisor, and partner NGOs, the education coordinator will fulfill program obligations under partner-led implementation and will ensure high-quality standards in the delivery of education services in the affected areas. S/He will be responsible for training/capacity building of education staff, partners’ teams, and front-line workers as required. S/He will also support in program monitoring, supervision, report writing, and ensuring that project meets stated goals and reporting requirements. 

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:

 

Programme Coordination

  • In collaboration with SC team and implementing partners, support the implementation, reporting, and monitoring of program activities according to international and SCI standards, ensuring that program objectives, indicators, and outcomes are met in a timely manner and with quality.
  • Work closely with the Education Advisor and Program Manager to ensure all procedures, codes of conduct and policies are followed and upheld and ensure compliance in all facets of the technical aspect of program implementation.
  • Ensure programs utilize standardized protocols, policies, and guidelines according to the national standards or in the absence of such ensure that programs utilize internationally recognized standards.
  • Ensure all SC management systems are followed such as monitoring, security and health and safety, safeguarding and accountability.
  • Conduct regular monitoring and support visits to the field sites, working closely with implementing partners to ensure the ongoing relevance of program direction and support. 
  • Contribute to the documentation and communication of learning within the organization and seek, where possible, to share that learning with key stakeholders.

Technical support and quality assurance:

  • Jointly with Manager Education, support the development/adoption of technical guidelines/protocols for planned educational activities.
  • Provide support in capacity-building training and developing protocols, SoPs, and ToRs for managing education related activities. 
  • Ensure supplies of technical guidelines/protocols/tools in all temporary learning centers.

Capacity building:

  • Jointly with Manager Education, implement the capacity-building plan for SC staff, implementing partners, and education stakeholders.
  • Facilitate/co-facilitate training as needed.

Coordination and Representation:

  • Liaise provincial & district level Education authorities (Education department/formal and non-formal) for ensuring good working relationships and timely facilitation of the temporary learning centers as required.
  • Represent in Sector level coordination and technical working groups at the provincial and district level

Monitoring, reporting, and documentation:

  • Undertake regular field visits to review field findings and action plan development.
  • Provide written monthly updates to Manager Education on progress and challenges
  • Prepare and submit reports as required; training reports, and situational analysis reports as well as assist MEAL and Comms teams in developing Donor reports.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE 

  • Masters degree in social sciences with 5 years of relevant experience including 3 years of education in emergency experience.
  • Report writing skills
  • Effective Networking and stakeholder management
  • Experience in training/facilitation skills and capacity building of implanting partners on education themes.
