Job Purpose

Pathfinder International is being supported by the UNFPA under the Sihatmand Khandan Project, supported by Global Affairs Canada (GAC), an intervention focused on improving response mechanisms to Gender Based Violence in Sindh. Providing technical and coordination support with govt and other stakeholders and b) Strengthening GBV referral mechanism capacity building, helplines, psychosocial support for women and girls in partnership with the Women Development Dept.

Job Summary: The Gender Specialist will work with Women Development Dept, Pathfinder office and the UNFPA Regional Office in ensuring activities and technical advancements within the framework of related regional strategies for gender transformative approaches within departmental activities and implementation. She/he will also be responsible for effectively managing the administrative and financial activities related to her/his responsibilities, and ensuring a survivor centered approach for Complaint Cell management.

Job Description

The Gender Specialist will be responsible for providing technical and programmatic support keeping in mind survivor centered approach

Responsibilities:

  • The Gender Specialist will be responsible for providing strategic and technical support to strengthen the work of the Project on gender equality across priority sectors.
  • Provide direct technical assistance and guidance on to the program and Women Development Department.
  • Support the development of tools, systems, processes, and approaches that continuously improve technical excellence and impact in transformative approaches.
  • Lead, coordinate, support, and/or conduct gender and power analyses, effectiveness and efficacy studies, appraisal, evaluation and needs assessments as required by the program.
  • Assist with quantitative/qualitative assessments in targeted communities to assess effectiveness of interventions and impact.
  • Work closely with other technical specialists to integrate gender across all Program components.
  • Good experience in project management, advocacy, and knowledge management.
  • Initiative and creative in solving problems with strong facilitation and analytical skills
  • Strong ability to work both independently and in a team
  • Good organizing skills and interpersonal skills

 

Minimum Education and Work Experience:

  • Master’s degree in Gender Studies from recognized University/ Law Graduate from a recognized University/ OR master’s in social sciences from recognized University
  • Minimum 03 years Administrative Experience with background of handling of Civil & Criminal Court Cases related to Women.
  • Specialized studies on gender/ women related subjects will be an added advantage. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in gender issues.
  • Applicant must have excellent Communication Skills specialization experience of Reports/Publications in Gender related assignment will be preferred. 03Years’ experience in office management and dealing with NGOs.

Experience:

  • A minimum of 3 years of progressively responsible experience in development, focusing on gender programming, part of which has been in the field, with experience on gender equality and women’s rights with an international organization.
  • Experience with the UN inter-agency cooperation would be an asset.  Good knowledge of UN Women and the UN system.
  • Working experience with a variety of stakeholders and partners related to gender equality and women’s empowerment, including UN agencies, Governments and civil society organizations, in a development context.
