Scope
Nutrition International has been working in Pakistan since 2001 to improve the health of people in need, especially women and children, through better nutrition. Working in partnership with national and provincial government, Nutrition International focuses on improving access to much needed micronutrients for the most disadvantaged through existing health systems.
Nutrition International (NI) is a Canada-based international organization which is working in Pakistan since 2001. NI is implementing a country-wide Large Scale Food Fortification (LSFF) Program in Pakistan with funding from Global Affairs Canada (GAC) and Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF) to support the government of Pakistan in its efforts to address micronutrient deficiencies amongst women, adolescent girls, and children under the age of five through fortification of wheat flour and edible oil with essential vitamins and minerals.
NI is providing support to the Provincial Food Departments, Food Authorities, and wheat flour and edible oil mills in implementing and enforcing food fortification interventions in all four provinces of Pakistan. This includes support at federal and provincial levels in creating an enabling environment for food fortification through provision of technical support for drafting of bills for mandatory food fortification in all provinces, advocacy for approval of the legislation, and building the capacity of millers and staff from government food regulatory bodies and laboratories for enforcement of food fortification & its Quality Assurance & Quality Control (QAQC) processes. This also includes support for the repair & maintenance of 2,333 micro-feeders installed in
992 wheat flour mills across the country.
For effective implementation of the programmatic activities and management of fieldbased human resources/extenders, NI intends to hire the services of an admin and financial management firm. The firm will be responsible for undertaking activities related to the hiring of field staff, making logistic arrangements for meetings, training and capacity-building events, advocacy meetings/activities and seminars/conferences, learning sessions etc. for the LSFF program. Detailed activities and distribution of human resources are provided as part of the ToR. The proposed duration of engaging a firm under this RFP is up to 3 years.
