The Legal Aid Society (LAS) is a not for profit organization with a mission to connect vulnerable and disempowered end users of justice with effective and expedient services for the delivery of justice. LAS starts by listening to the voices of the vulnerable and disempowered within the legal system and combines their needs with the values of equity, fairness and inclusion to change the way we view and tackle present day challenges facing the attainment of justice in our society. The organization adopts a two pronged approach within the larger framework of access to justice in Pakistan. The first aspect of programming is to provide direct assistance on a case by case and individualized basis through provision of legal representation; akin to plugging in gaps in the provision of legal aid. The second aspect of programming is aimed at systems level repair through the legal empowerment approach which seeks to increase knowledge of law amongst common users for effectuating more access and change within the surrounding legal ecosystem.

 

Details of Vacancy

LAS seeks to appoint a full-time Business Development Manager for its proposed Mediation Centre to lead the establishment of and create and deploy a feasable and sustainable business model fore the mediation centre. The incubent will be responsible for developing relations with potential clients and partners and coordinating and administrating mediation services provided by the center as well as creating a unique brand identity. 

Objectives of the Role:

  • Lead the establishment of the Mediation Center and ensure compliance with local and federal registration / accreditation laws
  • Work with senior management and sector experts to establish rules, policies and procedures for the mediation center
  • Work with senior management to curate international monetary and non-monetary partnerships and members with mediation centers/associations
  • In partnership with LAS's communications department, lead the development of a brand identity for the Mediation Center and curate a highly appealing sales pitch for potential corporate clients
  • Identify potential corporate clients and prepare and extensive targeting strategy
  • Prepare and manage a panel of mediators and estalblish the financial model for the mediation center ensuring its sustainability
  • Develop strategies and positions by analysing new-venture integration
  • Assist in the coordination and implementation of marketing strategies, and delegate tasks to achieve strategic goals
  • Motivate the team, track performance, and report metrics to senior management periodically

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and evaluate the mediation industry in Pakistan and globally to identify trends, best practices and working models
  • Manage proposal response process, including detailed RFP requirements, content creation, and inputs from various sources
  • Generate new leads, identify and contact decision-makers, screen potential business opportunities, select deals in line with strategies, and facilitate pitch logistics
  • Develop and implement overarching outbound sales and business development strategy, sales processes, structure, and best practices across the company
  • Support deal structure and pricing with business-value analysis, and negotiate prices for proactive bids and proposals
  • Maintain and share professional knowledge through education, networking, events, and presentations

Skills and qualifications

  • Successful track record in sales and negotiation of B2B customers
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills (English)
  • Experience in various sales techniques
  • Proficiency in data analysis, forecasting, and budgeting
  • Proven ability to plan and manage resources

 

Education & Experience

Candidates must be a graduate with 16 years of education prefereably in Marketing or Finance with 4 to 5 years of relevant experience.

Masters degree preferably in the relevant field with 2 to 3 years of relevant experience

Specialist knowledge &

skills

  • Proficient in research and drafting legal documents
  • Proficient with spreadsheet programmes.
  • Excellent IT skills.  
  • Excellent practical and theoretical knowledge of mediation is important.

Interpersonal &

communication skills

  • Well-developed interpersonal/communication skills and strong organisational skills are essential.
  • Methodical but efficient and flexible approach to work.
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks with a high degree of   accuracy
