BACKGROUND

The International Trade Centre (ITC) is the joint agency of the World Trade Organization (WTO)

and the United Nations (UN). It is the only multilateral agency fully dedicated to supporting the

Internationalization of small and medium enterprises (SMEs). ITC's mission is to foster inclusive

and sustainable growth and development through trade and international business development.

ITC projects and programmes contribute to the global efforts to achieve UN Global Goals for

Sustainable Development and the Aid for Trade agenda.

ITC works at three levels:

  • Strengthening the integration of the business sector of developing countries and economies in transition into the global economy.
  • Improving the performance of trade and investment support institutions for the benefit of small and medium size enterprises (SMEs) and enhancing their abilities to better support them.
  • Improving the international competitiveness of SMEs.

About the Project “Growth for Rural Advancement and Sustainable Progress (GRASP)”:

GRASP is a six-year project designed to reduce poverty in Pakistan by strengthening small-scale

Agribusinesses in two provinces: Balochistan and Sindh. GRASP is implemented by the International Trade Centre with active participation from local partners. The project is funded by the delegation

of the European Union to Pakistan with a budget of up to $48,000,000. GRASP will run from

2019–2024.

Context:

As GRASP activities on the ground pick pace, the social media is seeing a lot of traction. And as short videos are gaining popularity as a medium, the project activities footage needs to be converted into video shorts. These will be a mix of animation and real footage and show the progress over time.

Supervisor

The graphics consultant will report to GRASP Communication Specialist, who will be the supervisor for this assignment.

a.       Purpose of the videos

The videos will not only educate the masses on the work being done by the European Union funded programme but shed light on the SMEs sector in the country, and the progress made in improving their business environment by the GRASP project. The videos will be on the following topics )2 minute 20 second format)

  1. Domestic commerce and regulatory policies
  2. Agricultural policies and how they affect SMEs
  3. Rural MSME competitiveness and sustainability
  4. SPS (including food safety)
  5. Climate Smart Agriculture Practices
  6. Importance of Rural women engagement in economic opportunities andagricultural production.
  7. Importance of Market Linkages for Agriculture and Horticulture Farmers from Sindh and Balochistan
  8. Farmer Business Schools 
  9. Access to finance for SMEs
  10. Financial Institutions and their role in assisting the SMEs
  11. ITC presence in Pakistan broken down by provinces, districts, and union councils, and the impact to date.
  12. In addition, the consultant is to convert our numbers into infographics to make a one pager for the web page, and design one pager informative flyer targeted to SMEs in Urdu and English>

b.      Required Services:

For this purpose, GRASP/ITC is seeking services of highly experienced video editor, who has worked with the development sector, preferably UN agencies before. The editor should be aware of the target audience and be able to convert raw footage and pictures into videos of up to 2 minute 20 seconds. Each month footage and scripts will be provided, and three videos will be produced.The consultant is to ensure that the branding and logos follow the rules and regulations of the European Union, and the International Trade Centre. The remaining 2 videos will be of either beneficiary testimonials, or coverage of an event or milestone achieved by the programme.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Be at the GRASP PMU office twice a week to discuss the videos for the month
  2. Convert the raw footage, into furnished videos with English subtitles, and Urdu where needed
  3. Show the first draft to GRASP team and incorporate any changes suggested
  4. Design banners, standees, report covers, and digital flyers
  5. Design GRASP logos for visibility products such as giveaways, pens, mugs etc

The consultant will report to GRASP communication specialist.

Deliverables

  • Three short videos each month, depending on the raw footage and script provided by the GRASP team. To develop infographics and a mix of animation with real footage to convert in the videos. Two videos of 30 seconds each, and one of 2 minute 20 seconds.
  • Design banners, standees, and report covers for the events happening each month

EXPECTED OUTPUTS AND TIMELINES

Deliver the videos and footage to the GRASP communication specialist before the end of each month, to be posted on social media handles.

SKILLS

  • Experience in editing and developing video documentaries
  • Aware of communication for development and UN agencies and donors such as the EU
  • Develop audio and video compilation with appropriate script placement
  • Proficiency in adobe creative suite, Photoshop, and InDesign

EDUCATION (Indicate the minimum professional qualification necessary for the successful completion of the tasks listed under Duties and responsibilities. (E.g.: advanced degree MSc in Finance).

  • Master’s in media, film making, journalism, or any related field

EXPERIENCE

a)    Required Experience (Should be clear and precise. (E.g.: Number of years of experience required for this task: At least 8 years of directly relevant experience in operations management development.)

  • At least 7 years of experience working in the media, video editing, and documentary making field
  • Have led or taken active role in campaigns for agencies working for development in Pakistan
  • Experience in digital campaigns targeting external audience with organization goals and objectives

b)    Other (Proven hands-on experience in project design, planning, management and monitoring. Previous work experience on trade development issues would be an asset).

LANGUAGE

Fluency in English and Urdu.
