Scope and purpose of the job:

Rozan believes that in order to work towards its vision for, “A humane, self-aware, gender-just society” its message needs to be widely spread in an effective, efficient and sensitive manner. The Communication and Publication Officer at Rozan will be responsible to develop, design and disseminate publications and materials in English and Urdu (if needed other local languages as well) to promote organizational work and mandate.  The incumbent will handle Rozan’s material development and publication portfolio from conception to distribution. The position holder will develop and edit content on Rozan’s programmatic interventions on mental health, gender, violence against women and children. This content will be used for print, electronic and social media platforms. The position involves strong liaising internally with Rozan’s different program teams and externally with printers and media outlets.

Required qualifications, knowledge, experience and skills set

Interested candidates for the position of Publication and Communication Officer must have:

• A Master’s degree with 5 years of previous experience of working as Communication and Publication Officer preferably in the social and development sector
• Ability to generate and implement innovative ideas for developing and disseminating issues-based materials to enhance organizational portfolio
• Experience and knowledge of design principles and production methods for online and offline materials.
• Impeccable attention to detail and ability to take ownership of accuracy of content
• Hands on experience of developing and designing publications and awareness raising materials on social issues
• Command in using social media platforms to increase the outreach and projection of organizational work
• Have knowledge relating to the digital publication process.
• Sound understanding and previous experience of working on gender, violence against women and children’s issues
• Excellent interpersonal communication skills  
• Strong writing skills in English and Urdu language, knowledge of other local languages will be an added value.
• Excellent editorial skills
• Willingness to learn and grow
• Ability to work independently and to manage multiple tasks.
• Should be up-to date with the current trends of communication in order to promote organization’s message/mandate on different platforms

Key areas of responsibility:

• Take lead on the production and delivery of Rozan’s portfolio of communication materials development from conception to distribution
• Proactively look for ideas on how Rozan’s work can be projected in an effective and efficient style.
• Develop, compile and edit Rozan publications & material (annual reports researches, articles, flyers, brochures, projects reports)
• Deduce and write content form Rozan’s programmatic interventions to be disseminated on offline and online spaces.
• Seek ways to improve Rozan website regularly in collaboration with IT & Administration Officer.
• Develop strong linkages with electronic and print media.
• Liaise with programs for possible needs with reference to media coverage (print and electronic)
• Develop materials for campaigning on issues Rozan works on
• Write articles & develop material for newspapers and magazines in collaboration with Programs.
• Ensure Rozan materials available for the public are fully accessible, in appropriate formats where necessary
• Ensure quality and symmetry in Rozan materials and publications.
• Edit, proofread Rozan reports, letters, advertisements, articles as & when requested.
• Liaison with printers
• Write press releases and organize press conference of Rozan activities and events.
• Design and format training modules and materials for various program workshops.
• Attend Program meeting and activities and identify content and messages for promotion of Rozan’s work.
• Follow ethical standards set by Rozan as per its polices and systems.
