ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT

Pakistan Centre for Philanthropy (PCP) is looking for a Project Manager with specialization in gender based issues for a 2 year project on Advancing Gender Equality in Civil Society (AGECS) in Gilgit, Baltistan and Chitral (GBC). The job is Islamabad-based with frequent travel to GB.

REPORTING RESPONSIBILITES

The Project Manager will directly report to the Head of Research Unit.

BACKGROUND OF THE PROJECT

Under the project, PCP is to do a mapping and need assessment study of existing formal and less formal organizations in two districts of Hunza and Diamer in GBC. The data collected from both secondary and primary sources will generate evidence on how formal Civil Society Organizations are contributing and causing a change in women’s economic and social empowerment. Based on the gaps identified in the mapping study, a prime intervention of the project is to impart trainings on three crucial capacity strengthening activities as : (i) Peer-2-Peer learning exchange workshop, (ii) Leadership Development (with particular emphasis on women participation in social and economic activities), and (iii) Collaboration  with other organizations for progressive interventions to help and guide  women to improve their socio-economic status and leadership in the community. Once trainings are imparted, four follow up discussions on Community of Practice will be carried out.

 JOB DESCRIPTION    (TORs)

  • Plan, coordinate and execute gender based research and mapping study of civil society organizations. 
  • Conduct desk review on existing traditional, formal and less formal gender based civil society organizations, with special focus on GBC.
  • Form research team and conduct pre-field training of field coordinators and enumerators for field work and data collection.
  •  Supervise and manage research team to conduct mapping / need assessment and household survey in target areas of the project
  • Conduct analysis and compile a report to identify the structure, gaps and challenges around gender equality encountered by the less formal/traditional organizations in the project areas using collected information.
  • Conduct data interpretation workshops with relevant stakeholders
  • Developing training modules on enhancing women leadership, peer to peer learning and collaborative and strategic partnership development
  • Carry out trainings of selected civil society organization on three identified themes of the project
  • Develop research tool to gauge public perception on civil society’s role in promoting gender empowerment
  • Supervise the team in conducting community based research on the key best practices, initiatives and challenges faced by CSOs in project locations
  •  The Program manager will also identify case studies for making the video documentaries.
  • Perform day-to-day management of project team and address and resolve any team issues  arising during the implementation of the project.
  • Assist in data collection team recruitment, training, and performance evaluation activities.
  • Report project progress, status, and issues, if any, to the focal person of the project on regular basis.
  • Prepare project documentations and research reports for PCP management review.
  • Work with PCP management to prepare project plan, budget and schedules.
  • Conduct team meetings to discuss about project status and issues.
  • Monitor project progress regularly and report the same to management and customers.
  • Any other task assigned by Supervisor.

 REQUIRED COMPETENCIES

  • Proficiency in MS – Office, MS – Excel, MS- Power Point, PSS or other research based softwares

MINIMUM EDCUATION AND WORK EXPEREINCE

  • Master’s degree in gender and development studies or any other social sciences subject along with 5 years plus work experience on a senior position, preferably gender based projects
  • Possess experience of master trainer for capacity building workshops and report writing skills
  • Preference will be given to candidate having prior experience of working on GBC based project
  • Islamabad based position with frequent travel to GB
  •  Must be proficient in written and spoken Urdu and English languages
  • Proficiency in local languages would be an advantage
