Location:  Tando Allahyar (With Frequent Travel to Project Sites)

Purpose of the role: 

ORG is implementing ‘Better Cotton Projects” in areas of lower Sindh-Pakistan for sustainable production and improved quality of cotton under Decent Work conditions. The project objectives are 1) To achieve Better Cotton aims across the social, environmental and economic aspects of cotton production 2) To achieve impact and bring Better Cotton to scale in relation to all 3 primary KPIs: farmers trained and licensed, hectares licensed, BC MT tons produced and licensed 3) To develop partnerships with governments, trade associations or other national scale entities to adopt the BCI principles and contribute for success of project.

The selected candidate for this position would be responsible to provide strategic direction to Producer Units for the implementation of Decent Work, staff’s capacities enhancement, contribute towards sustainability of interventions and to collect and report the success stories from field in coordination with region coordinators under guidance of Project Manager. This position is initially to be recruited for 09 months (01 July 2022 to 31 March 2023) with probation period; however, the successful candidate based on satisfactorily performance is expected to be continued up to extension of project for March 2025.

Key accountabilities:

  • Work under the guidance and supervision of Project Manager and Technical Training Specialist and in close coordination with region coordinators, project team.
  • Capacity building of project field staff including Producer Unit Managers, Field Facilitators, Social Mobilizers and Women Village Trainers regarding Decent Work as per BCI/ILO intent.
  • Provide strategic direction to Producer Unit staff (Producer Unit Managers, Social Mobilizers, Field Facilitators and Women Village Trainers) for the adoption of Decent Work indicators at PU/Farm level.
  • Guide the Producer Units to prepare the detailed plan for implementation of Decent Work.
  • Contribute towards the sustainability of Producer Units while developing business models for women workers to generate income alternatively.
  • Ensure the on-time collection, credibility and quality of all types of data as relate to Decent Work adoption, research or impact assessments.  
  • Collect and compile the success stories, blogs and activity details as the result of introduced interventions and report preparation.
  • Carryout the monitoring and evaluation activities while visiting the sites and conducting the review and feedback sessions at office and to ensure the implementation of Corrective Actions in their true spirit regarding Decent Work.
  • Coordinate and facilitate the conduction of shadow Self-Assessment, BCI, 3rd party verifications process.
  • Organize and conduct meetings, workshops, seminars, visits, and briefings as and when required.
  • Any other assignments required for satisfactory completion of the key role requirements.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

Education & Qualifications

  • Candidates should have earned at least master’s degree in social sciences or related field.

Experience

  • Minimum 2-3 years’ experience in related field.
  • Candidates with the certificates of subject related trainings and having experience to work for promotion of Decent Work will be given preference.
  • Strong understanding of labor categories, their issues and their involvement in cotton production process.
  • Willingness for field visits to interiors of lower Sindh for trainings, evaluations and meetings with farmers.
  • Proven networking, team-building, organizational and communication skills
  • Experience and ability to work in tight schedules and within limited timeframes
  • Strong technical report writing skills.
  • Ability to plan work schedules to meet agreed deadlines.
  • Effective team player and conversant with a transdisciplinary approach.
  • Practical and pragmatic – preferably with experience of working with international organizations.
  • Experience of TNA, Training Design, Training Material development and Training Evaluations.
