DW Akademie empowers people worldwide to make independent decisions based on reliable facts and constructive dialogue. 

Role & Responsibilities:   

DW Akademie is looking for a Project Manager based in the Islamabad office. The Project Manager will work closely with Program Director Pakistan and Country Representative Pakistan. The Project Manager will be responsible for the initiation, planning, design, execution, and closure of projects within budget and scope.

Duties will also include:

-          Assisting, the Program Director Pakistan in dining the scope and objectives of different projects, involving all relevant internal and external stakeholders, and ensuring technical feasibility.

-          Providing overall management, vision, and direction of the project, including budget management, ensuring all deliverables are met on time and to a high standard.

-          Collaborating with local and international journalism trainers to conduct training and mentoring activities along with project partners.

-          Sharing, learning and building strategies among the different project partners where appropriate.

-          Keeping a strategic overview of and managing all operations within the project framework.

-          Liaising and guiding project partners concerning budgeting, planning and implementation of the project activities.

-          Along with project partners identify the gaps and assess the project progress to initiate further steps

-          Conduct field visits, when and where necessary.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

-          Advanced university degree in media, communication, international development, or any other comparable qualifications

-          At least 5 years of experience in leading projects, including budget management, planning, and executing the projects.

-          Experience in leading and coordinating teams and staff

-          A solid background in journalism and/or communications for development is desired

-          Strong Leadership, communication, and diplomatic skills

-          Knowledge about Diversity and Inclusion would be an advantage

-          Sensitivity to cross-cultural dynamics in the workplace and experience supervising staff.

-          Must be self-reliant, resourceful, a good problem-solver, and flexible.
