Overview:

Through funding from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Jhpiego is implementing the ‘Protecting and Improving Health Globally: Building and Strengthening Public Health Impact, Systems, Capacity and Security’ project in Pakistan. Jhpiego Pakistan, an affiliate of Johns Hopkins University USA, is seeking a Program Coordinator based in Islamabad, Pakistan. The program coordinator will lead the coordination activities of Jhpiego’s project under this grant in Punjab, KPK, AJK and GB in support of the provincial governments and in collaboration with the National Institute of Health (NIH) and CDC/Pakistan.

Responsibilities:

  • Act as provincial focal point for all program activities in the provinces of Punjab, KPK, AJK and GB.
  • Lead program coordination, implementation and monitoring of work plan and budget at provincial level.
  • Prepare relevant technical reports of the project, work closely with technical and program staff to ensure high quality project implementation including training activities.
  • Make frequent visits of program supported facilities in the province for effective implementation of technical interventions.
  • Monitor provincial level spending, maintain close coordination program teams and with relevant stakeholder at the provincial level/NIH.
  • Formulate and maintain productive working relationships with counterparts from the DoH in the respective provinces and other partners/stakeholders e.g. NIH.
  • Assure the quality of technical interventions, troubleshoot to prevent and resolve potential problems and review outputs for quality control.
  • Ensure data collection and reporting from designated sites. Work with all technical team members at all levels to complete/update all required reporting.
  • Facilitate the visits by CDC / partners as and when required.
  • Track progress on deliverables on a regular basis and provide support for troubleshooting and ensuring achievements.
  • Ensure continuous monitoring of program activities, as well as timely and accurate evaluation and reporting of progress toward the achievement of program goals and objectives.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Degree in clinical medicine (MBBS)/laboratory sciences, advanced degree in public health or field epidemiology is preferred.
  • At least 5 years of experience with 2-3 years of experience of program/project management in the field of Global Health Security/surveillance with public or private sector.
  • Specific experience in infectious disease surveillance (e.g. CoVID-19), laboratories, Infection prevention & Control (IPC) and One Health will be preferred.
  • Exposure to public health surveillance and CoVID-19 laboratory system strengthening are required.
  • Ability to develop working relationships with counterparts of varying levels of seniority and backgrounds to implement program activities.
  • Excellent communications skills with strong background in technical report writing and public health trainings.
  • Ability to travel within country.
  • Covid vaccination certificate would be desirable as per government protocols.
