Job Overview:

The Manager Taxation will oversee and manage the tax planning, compliance, and analysis for Altaf Trust. This position requires a highly skilled and knowledgeable individual who can effectively navigate tax laws and regulations to optimize the Trust's tax positions while ensuring compliance with all local and national tax requirements.

Responsibilities:

  1. Tax Compliance and Reporting:

    • Ensure timely and accurate filing of all tax returns, including income tax, sales tax, and other relevant taxes.
    • Review tax provisions in accordance with applicable accounting standards.
    • Stay updated with changes in tax legislation and adjust trust's practices accordingly.
  2. Tax Planning and Strategy:

    • Develop and implement strategic tax plans to minimize tax liabilities and maximize eligibility for available tax incentives.
    • Advise management on the tax impact of various corporate strategies.
    • Collaborate with external tax consultants and advisors as needed.
  3. Audit and Risk Management:

    • Coordinate with auditors to handle any tax audits and inquiries.
    • Assess and mitigate tax risks by implementing robust controls and compliance mechanisms.
  4. Team Leadership and Development:

    • Manage and support the taxation team in their day-to-day functions.
    • Provide training and development to team members to enhance their skills and knowledge in tax-related areas.
  5. Stakeholder Engagement:

    • Work closely with the finance department and senior management to provide insights and regular updates on tax matters.
    • Liaise with governmental and regulatory bodies as required.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. A master’s degree or professional certification (e.g., ACCA, CA, CPA) is highly desirable.

  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in a tax management role, preferably within a nonprofit or trust environment.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of the Pakistani tax system and international tax principles applicable to non-profits.

Skills:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Proficient in tax preparation and planning software.

  • Ability to lead and manage a team effectively.

  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to high accuracy and timeliness.

Working Conditions:

  • Standard office hours apply, with additional hours required to meet project deadlines or during tax filing periods.

  • The role might require occasional travel for training or stakeholder meetings.
