1 Position

General mission

Under the responsibility of the Technical Head of Program, the Education Specialist contributes to the implementation of the mandate and the 10-year strategy of Humanity & Inclusion in the field of Inclusive Education & Education in Emergencies.

Missions / responsibilities

Mission 1: Expertise on Inclusive Education & Education in Emergencies 

1.1.   Contribute to the country strategies in line with the global strategies

  1. Provide sectorial technical input to the country operational strategy of the Programmes within his/her scope and in education sector, in line with the global inclusive education technical strategies and ensure relevant follow up

1.2.   Ensure technical support to projects in line with the global technical frameworks and standards in his/her sectorial scope

  1. Provide adequate technical guidance and support to Project Managers when relevant (adapt standards to PM’s tools, contribute to proposal writing and reporting) in line with strategies, standards and mandatory transversal approaches
  2. Ensure adequate support to multi-sector responses within projects, in line with the other specialists
  3. Ensure a local inclusive sectorial watch, best practices to adopt within scope of inclusive education
  4. Contribute to recruitment and briefing when relevant

1.3.   Ensure technical learning from projects

  1. Initiate and/or implement to projects’ technical learning within education sectorial scope

1.4.   Control & monitor the technical quality and the relevance of HI’s activities in the Programmes under his/her scope

  1. Ensure regular technical quality control of projects and programmes and issue warnings and recommendations
  2. Monitor the implementation of audit recommendations, if applicable, in his/her sectorial scope
  3. Ensure adequate support partners to manage activities under his / her scope

1.5.   Ensure compliance of the technical proposition with nexus stakes

1.6.   Contribute to the development of research and innovation projects in the region when relevant, in his/her sectorial scope a. Suggest and steer technical innovation projects b. Propose (Identify) the priorities of Research and Studies and steer R&S

1.7.   Contribute to the Technical Divisions professional channel facilitation within the program

  1. Take part to the global animation of the professional channels related to his/her sectorial scope
  2. Animate a local talent pool in his/her sectorial scope and ensure co-development and monitoring of of professional development plans

Mission 2: Influence

2.1. Contribute to the local external prestige and influence of HI’s expertise in Inclusive Education and Education in emergencies

  1. Represent the technical expertise of HI throughout the local relevant networks Inclusive Education and Education in emergencies
  2. Contribute to advocacy on specific themes in line with the global advocacy priorities
  3. Contribute to communication messages locally in line with the global communication priorities 

Mission 3 : Business development.

3.1. Ensure the development of major opportunities or new projects in the country in Inclusive Education and Education in emergencies

  1. Lead or contribute to the context analysis in his sectorial scope
  2. Lead or contribute to the design and writing of new projects
  3. Identify & transform major opportunities in the country under his/her scope
  4. Identify & develop local partnerships and/or consortium with NGOs, Institutions, Companies on technical priorities or important topics in the country under his sectorial scope
  5. Contribute to the conception of major projects (multiple countries, one theme) or of new projects

Mission 4: Emergency preparedness and response responsibilities

4.1. Contributes to the support or implementation of emergency preparedness actions of the programme(s) and, during an emergency, adapts his/her working modality to contribute to an effective HI humanitarian response.
